If you have a long wire loop attached to another loop at the ceiling(can move freely).This wire was in the middle of the room,,and far away from all the walls,and far from the floor also. How can you cut a piece of this wire using a chisel and mallet only?

If they began at (8:00) O`clock p.m.,,,,when they will finish? howmany shake hands will be totally? Note:there were no two persons at that room having the same height.
