  1. When, for the last 3 hours, you've been telling yourself "Okay, I'm going to get up now, find my iTouch, and sync/charge it. I'm also gonna throw all these candy wrapper away.." but, er, haven't.
  2. Izzy

    Well, I'm stumped.. <_< Hint?

In what sense? If I would say "I hate you", it would have much more of an affect (effect?) on you than its opposite. Love is better and more acceptable than hate, but that doesn't mean it conquers it. I dunno if they should even be compared in this way 'cos they're just antonyms.

So I'm opening this up for discussion. Socrates and I have started debating a bit via the comment boxes in our profiles. I think it's pretty interesting, so anyone else's insight would be appreciated. Below is the conversation up to now. Socrates: Amor Vincint Omnia Izzy: Love something something? I'm no linguist, and a quick google search didn't result in anything. Socrates: I do apologize for I am not the most adroit speller. Amor Vincit Omnia Izzy: [it translates to "Love Conquers All"] Eh, debatable. Socrates: My friend I think you might be a small cynic as I once was. Might I recommend a book entitled "The Alchemist." Izzy: Well, I'm not saying humans as a race are cynical (let's ignore my narcissistic behavior ), just that there are things more powerful than love. Emotions can be altered, whether people believe so or not. More powerful than love is your mind and what you do with it. Socrates: Ah yes but isn't love produced by the mind. Love as many may think is not just a romantic attraction. Any form of care can be construed as love. Lets say for instance you loose something very precious to you while you visit a foreign location. What if the three days later a random person shows up at your door with your lost item, telling you he flew down from his home just to return it? T Izzy:That isn't love though. Because languages are man-made, emotions are exactly as we define them, and nothing else. Though I understand that what the man did was nice, it was neither love for the person, nor himself. Love for what is right perhaps, and... that's pretty good, but it doesn't conquer all. /Nothing/ "conquers" all. There is always something better than something else Socrates: Ah how I do love an engaging debate! I do agree that languages are man-made as for means of communication, albeit I don't see how this assertion relates to emotions. These so called feelings are innate instincts which some may even contemplate encompass the human soul. Love in all forms is equal. The more compassion human beings show in everyday occurrences the closer we move to universal harmony. In this sense love can conquer all. Izzy: Haha, what soul? Humans continue to feel love because natural selection has decided that it is important for our survival. Humans love each other so they're capable of staying with each other long enough to reproduce. Love is an illusion, created by our minds for specific reasons, and therefore isn't really that important. Again, love conquers nothing. Thoughts? Comments? Sides?

Peace was in Florida, and I was out of Florida and in Germany. Gonna clarify that now before someone goes "Oh no! False alibi! Izzy's bad!"

Umm, guys, can we _not_ lynch someone just 'cos they're inactive? The way I see it is like this: If someone's been inactive (not just in this thread, but on all of BD) this entire time, chances are they weren't even online to make a baddie decision. Also, I hate first day lynchings. At this point I have no suspects, so sorry Skywalker, but I just dragged my finger up and down the list a bit. You have no other people voting for you, so it's really doubtful that you'll get lynched tonight. 1. DMS - voting for impervious 2. Prince Marth - Voring for Limeliam 3. Silverheart - voting for Panther 4. SomeGuy 5. Star Tiger - voting for Prince Marth 6. Peace - voting for Twin_Bro 7. Izzy - voting for Skywalker 8. Skywalker - voting for Silverheart 9. While browsing the math podcasts and movies on iTunes (...shut up), I stumbled upon a math enrichment program created by Cambridge University. If you go into the iTunes shop, the video I viewed is titled "Hands on Maths". I typed in the address at the end, and eventually came to this website. *Shrug* I think it's something somewhat fun to do when Brain Den is empty and you need something to solve. Look into it, and even if it doesn't interest you, recommend it to younger siblings!

*Waits for RT to fall asleep* It says CAT II/III really big on the runway at the airport. Does that count? 'Cos it seems a bit random and stuff.

Peace, were you really in Florida?! Unless you were visiting family, I'm assuming you were staying somewhere in the Orlando area (touristy and stuff), which is a shame that I was in Germany while you were here 'cos I live in Orlando.. Guys, FLORIDA SUCKS. It's way too freaking hot. Germany was nice. Only 40 cm of fake snow though..

Forget the money, the best is definitely my iTouch. Thought I did have to pay 100 Euro myself to get a 32g rather than a 16g.

What, you guys were all too lazy to translate them? Come on, sign in foreign languages are riddles too! Basically they say smoke is deadly, causes cancer, makes you smell, etc. Haha, unrelated, but I know this guy who went to Amsterdam for New Year's. He's a waiter, 20-odd, and likes to party. So.. imagine what he did. We met up with him yesterday, and there was a leaf on one of his lamps. I started giggling, and my dad was like "It's a maple leaf." Which, pssh, it was totally an Amsterdam leaf. So.. He kept trying to convince me that it was maple, and then oak, and then palm. And then we left. And, so not knowing what a pot-leaf actually looks like, I asked Betty and she was like, "Yeah, it's cannabis. But it's perfectly legal to have it, just not buy it." Guess you gotta steal your pot kids. 'Cos.. two wrongs make a right or something? On a serious note, don't do drugs.
  13. I'm home! I'm home, I'm home, I'm home! When the third thing you do upon arriving home from an 8 hour trip is check Brain Den. The first two things were drinking a huge glass of water and opening my Secret Santa gift. ..I need a shower. >_>

Best: Probably the money. I'm not sure yet as I haven't got all my gifts. Worst: Hmm. I'm pretty much fine with everything I got. Maybe the *massive* amount of chocolate? 'Cos chocolate is good and great, and I love it, but it would take months to down all this stuff.

Oh, I forgot. I, and like 10 other people, got really kick-a** hand-knitted socks. They is warm and fuzzy.

So, I think these are pretty funny. This is a picture I took at the cash register in a German supermarket.
  17. Haha, right the first time. I wish I were from Australia, or New Zealand, I love being outside. (Cold pwns all btw, I hate the warmth. Florida totally killed all the enjoyableness from it for me..) When you actually read the last like 4 pages of this thread, and then go back and quote this..
  18. Merry Christmas to you too! :D

  19. Izzy

Okay, here's what I got so far (I'm getting my present-present before we I go back to the States, 'cos apparently atheists aren't allowed to get Christmas presents*, only random cool things around Christmas time...) Apple Keyboard (as in instrument) 350 Euro, 50 of which go to my cousin. A combination of awesome sweaters, jeans, shoes, socks, etc. LOTS of chocolate. 2 books A 500 Euro bet with my dad. A 3 day, 8 hours a day Snowboard lesson. And if I like it, the course after that. Lots of family time. And... more stuff that I haven't gotten yet/can't remember. I think I'm getting either a Wii or an iTouch.
