Question

A man goes into the forest

And there he spies his prey

He's lucky, the beasts only

A little ways away

He takes his bow up

Knocks his arrow

And shoots the beast

Right through the marrow

The beast takes off

A chase ensues

Both man and beast

Refusing to lose

The man lines up

His aim once more

This time the beast

Falls to the floor

The man rejoices

He's caught his prey

On this very hopeful

Beast-killing day

Who is the man and What is the beast?

thanksgiving? Cuz we go hunting for turkeys on thanksgiving morning in my family. Which would obviously make the beast a turkey, and I have no idea who the man other than a hunter. Is the "beast-killing day" even relevant?

The day is significant only in the fact that it is a hopeful one. It is not a specific day. The man is not a literal hunter. He is a metaphor. The beast is not an animal. That too, is a metaphor.
Good guess, though! keep trying. I hope my explination was helpful!

Are there any indications or hints in your riddle, clues that could lead us to your metaphor? Or would we. oooooh! I see, it's like my "spinning yarn" one. There's a common phrase or metaphor, that commonly uses the old "hunter and the beast" idea. Let me think on this.

was cupid and love, what with your bow and "piercing the beast in the marrow," etc. But, so far, that's all I got.

You got one part right...
Marrow is the word that sticks out. Why marrow?
I could see cupid being the man, but do you really see love as being a beast?

[spoiler='out there a little bit i know but

']after watching the Farrah Fawcet story last night i'm going to say a physician and cancer

That's it!!!!! Actually, I had Lukemia in mind (hence the word Marrow), but I had already decided to accept that
CANCER or LUKEMIA/ DOCTOR or PHYSICIAN
as an answer too. Great job!!! I really hope you liked the riddle!!
