Question

Example:

Opening an umbrella inside the house is considered to bring ill luck.

Isn't it a no-brainer for it is obvious that such an act would hurt someone or worse break something valuable.

This could be a possible explanation but as with a lot of superstitions is accepted without reason. Made easy for a teaser, I'm sure you would expect stiffer standards.

Prove or Disprove

1. A beginner always has good luck: beginner’s luck.

2. Gravity isn’t really a force.

3. Black cat- enough to spur numerous superstitions. Bail these poor kitties out.

4. To walk beneath a ladder brings bad luck.

5. A pinch of salt wards off the evil spirit.

6. Knock twice on wood to reverse bad luck.

7. Don’t groan when someone calls you a pig. Isn’t it “lucky pig”?

8. To break a mirror brings seven years of bad luck.

9. An apple a day keeps the doc away!

Newton's laws of motion:

An object in motion will remain in motion, and an object that is not in motion will remain not in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.

Take any object (that you can lift), and hold it at shoulder height. Without throwing, release the object. You have just removed three forces from the object (one from either side of your grip on the object, which canceled each other out, and the force of friction). The object that was stationary at whatever height you were holding it will fall to the ground, thereby gaining motion in a direction towards the ground. It was acted upon by a force which we know as gravity.
