Guest
Two fathers and two sons went fishing. Each of them caught a fish, and none of them caught the same fish. However, they caught a total of only three fish. How is this possible? Grandfather, father and son.

0 Guest
theres a grandfather, father, and a son. So the grandfather, has his so there, the father and the father has his son there, the son. So there are your two sons. An the grandfather is the father of the father and the father is the father of the son, so there are your two fathers. So there are a total of three people there, each got a fish, which is a total of three fish. This is how it's possible to easy!
0 Guest
wouldn't it technicly be 2 fathers and 3 sons, because the grandfather had to come from somewhere, right?
0 Guest
wouldn't it technicly be 2 fathers and 3 sons, because the grandfather had to come from somewhere, right? 0 Guest
wouldn't it technicly be 2 fathers and 3 sons, because the grandfather had to come from somewhere, right? Not necessarily. I'll bet Adam, Seth and Enos went fishing all the time.

0 Guest
The puzzle didn't say there were four people when it said there were two father and two sons. But it does say that there are three people in the fishing boat when it says that 3 fish were caught. Since it is common fact that a man can be both a father and a son, we therefore know that one of the men in the boat is a father and a son. The other one is a Grandfather, and the last on is a son, with no children. But isn't the grandfather a son too???? So wouldn't there be 2 fathers and 3 sons? Everyone has parents you know.... 0 Guest
There are only 3 people fishing. A boy, his father, and his grandfather. The boy and his father are both sons. The father and grandfather are both fathers.
0 Guest
they are all sons too so technically, it would be 2 fathers and 3 sons
0 Guest
the father counts as a father and a son so grandfather goes father goes and son goes for a total of 3 fish
0 itachi-san
This could be made into a smaller group then: Grandfather (a father and a son) and his son (also a father whose kid isn't present). So 2 people (who make 2 fathers and 2 sons) caught 3 fish. They caught a total of 3 fish and neither caught the same fish.
0 Guest
I'm not very good at puzzles but I got this one as soon as I read it.

If there were two people in the fishing camp, and each of them caught a fish, and none of them caught the same fish then the total number of fish will be two, not three. 0 Guest
Obviously they are counting the father as a father and a son. Here is how it goes. Grandfather. Father. Son. The man I titled father is also a son. So technically, there are two fathers, Grandfather and Father. And there are two sons. Father and Son.
