I am stuck on this, a friend gave it to me........PLZ HELP SOON

For each family, match up the last name (Archway, Backster, Crawford), the mother's first name (Debra, Enid, Fern), the father's first name (Grover, Harris, Isaac), and the first name of the only child (Jules, Kurt, Lila)

In the clues that follow, the last name by itself will refer to the child.

1. Mrs. Archway told Grover that their sons were planning a biking outing.

2. Enid, Debra, and Kurt's mother are on the school board.

3. Isaac, Mr. Crawford, and Lila's father formed a car pool.

4. Crawford and Jules are in the same grade.

5. Enid is not married to Harris.

archway-Grover-fern-Kurt (Mrs Archway & Grover have "sons" and hence can't be related)

Crawford-Isaac-Enid-Lila (Mr Crawford and Issac form the car pool and hence can't be the same person)

Backster-Harris-Debra-jules

I beg to differ Dms172. Arguments in Spoiler.

Well I think

Archway-Issac-Enid-Jules

Baxter-Harris-Debra-Lila

Crawford-Grover-Fern-Kurt

If you doubt this, read the clues that were given

Since Mrs. Archway told Grover that their sons were planning a biking trip, Lila is a girl, and therefore not an Archway. Since Mr.Crawford and Lila's father were in the same carpool, Lila is not a Crawford. So Lila is a Backster.

Crawford and Jules are in the same grade, so Jules is not a Crawford. And is not a Backster, since that is Lila. So, Jules is an Archway.

Since Jules is an Archway and Lila is a Backster, Kurt is a Crawford.

Isaac, Mr. Crawford, and Lila's father were in the same carpool. Isaac can not be a Crawford then. And since Lila is a Backster, her father is Mr Backster. So Isaac is not a Backster. So. Isaac is an Archway.

Miss Archway told Grover their sons are taking a bike trip. Grover can not be a Backster, because they do not have a son. And can not be an Archway, because Isaac has already determined to be the Archway father. So Grover is a Crawford.

Since Grover is the Crawford father, and Isaac is the Archway father, Harris has to be the Backster Father.

Enid, Debra and Kurt's mother are in a carpool, so Kurt's mother must be Fern. Kurt has been determined to be a Crawford, So Fern is also a Crawford.

Enid is not married to Harris, and is therefore not a Backster. Fern was already determined to be the Crawford mother. So Enid can only be the Archway mother.

Since Enid is the Archway mother, and Fern is the Crawford mother, Debra can only be the Backster mother.

Case closed!

Archway- Enid, Isaac, Jules

Backster-Debra, Harris, Lila

Crawford-Fern, Grover, Kurt

People already got this answer, but here is the long explanation. Yay! I'm a dork. Go me!

Since I am not smart enough to figure out the puzzle, I will instead be obnoxious, and point out that it should be "Who goes with whom", as 'whom' is the object, and 'who' the subject. That's sort of a puzzle, no?

If you have ever studied for the LSAT section for analytical reasoning aka games then answering the question of "Who goes with Who?" becomes pretty simple. Which is why I've came up with the same answers as the previous posts:

C= F, G, K

B= D, H, L

A= E, I, J

The major problem I c with the riddle is that #1 says 'sons' but there is only one boys name, AND these are all one child families. My answers differ from any other i looked at

A=F,G,L

B=E,I,J

C=D,H,K

this is the only way all 4 statments can be true.

This is subjective. I think most people have assumed that Lila is the girl and Kurt and Jules are the boys. I guess that Jules can be a girls name too, but it's normally short for Julia and feel that it would've been made more obvious if the name Jules was referring to a girl.

For the record, I also came up with the following solution:-

The Archways are Enid, Isaac and Jules

The Backsters are Debra, Harris and Lila

The Crawfords are Fern, Grover and Kurt
