I had that problem with the previous ones with a lot of alternatives that were fitting into the description but I didn't think someone will find one for this! Great idea... for example when a lake/river freezes over and than when the ice crust starts melting and cracking in the spring it does kinda sound like barking... Just going off this idea -an axe? The sound of wood being chopped could sound like barking... Yes that's what it actually is! a rock being heated by the sun? No...
