0 unreality
right now mum is 21 years older then her child. in 6 years her child will be 5 times younger than she. since there is a 21 year difference... for mom to be twice as old: 21*2 = 42 child is 21 and mom is 42 for mom to be three times as old: 21*1.5=31.5 child is 10.5, mom is 31.5 four time as old: 21*1.333333* = 28 child is 7, mom is 28 five times as old: 21*1.25 = 26.25 child is 5.25, mother is 26.25 But we have to subtract 6 years now CHILD IS -.75 years old (so approx 2.25 months in the womb so far) and MOM is 20.25 years old
0 Guest
As Unreality calculated, the child is -0.75 years old. I did this the easy way, though. If in 6 years the mother will be 21 years older than and 5 times as old as the child, then: 5*(X+6) = (X+6)+21 4*(X+6) = 21 X+6 = 5.25 X = -0.75 So, at present the child is three quarters of a year shy of being born. Three quarters of a year is nine months. Nine months is the average gestation period of a human. Assuming a perfect pregnancy, Dad should be with Mom in a very intimate fashion right now. Of course, children are not born exactly nine months after conception. So, right now might be several weeks before or after the exact moment of conception. Still, I think that was the intent of the riddle.
0 Guest
Okay, since this seems to be an actual teaser, I'll have it moved back to "New Riddles". Sorry about that smile4me and welcome to the boards! CHILD IS -.75 years old (so approx 2.25 months in the womb so far) and MOM is 20.25 years old Actually, the child is brand new in the womb, since .75 of a year is about 9 months. So the father is...well, ya know- pretty close by. Edit: Riddari beat me to it.

0 abhisk
you are all trying to figure out how old the child is while the question is where is daddy... daddy is somewhere... If you did how old the child was, then you would realize the baby is not born yet, so then daddy would be pretty close by.

0 Guest
The kid is 3 months old (.25 years) now and Mum is 21.25 (21 years older) In 5 years, the kid will be 5.25 and Mum will be 26.25 (5 times the kids age and 21 years older) So, those 2 facts, plus $8 gets you over the Goerge Washington bridge (today) but does nothing to answer the question "Where's the father?".
