Question

Get your brain ready, cause this one's a doozy ...

A hundred prisoners are each locked in a room with three pirates, one of whom will walk the plank in the morning. Each prisoner has 10 bottles of wine, one of which has been poisoned; and each pirate has 12 coins, one of which is counterfeit and weighs either more or less than a genuine coin. In the room is a single switch, which the prisoner may either leave as it is, or flip. Before being led into the rooms, the prisoners are all made to wear either a red hat or a blue hat; they can see all the other prisoners' hats, but not their own. Meanwhile, a six-digit prime number of monkeys multiply until their digits reverse, then all have to get across a river using a canoe that can hold at most two monkeys at a time. But half the monkeys always lie and the other half always tell the truth. Given that the Nth prisoner knows that one of the monkeys doesn't know that a pirate doesn't know the product of two numbers between 1 and 100 without knowing that the N+1th prisoner has flipped the switch in his room or not after having determined which bottle of wine was poisoned and what color his hat is, what is the solution to this puzzle?

I know this should be in the joke forum, but that's no fun. We'll see how long it can hang out here.

Incidentally, I heard this on the radio and found it amusing, and my friend informed me it was also posted online here, so I figured I should share with those I know will truly appreciate it.

It depends on whether the pirate ship is on a treadmill which matches the ship's air speed, or sailing into a current which matches the ship's water speed. Of course, if the captain doesn't know which hatch the dead body is behind, then the probability does change.

Sell glasses of wine to the pirates in exchange for gold (they can get it back before you die), hoping that you draw them a glass from a poisoned bottle. Then you can easily escape with the money.

If the random glasses aren't from bottles with poison, and the pirates drink in moderation (during business hours), then you claim the coins are counterfeit and start a riot. You break the necks off the bottles and have 1,000 stabbing weapons against 3 pirates.

The pirates defend themselves well, but they aren't cursed pirates (just mortals), so eventually throw themselves over the plank.

In celebration, the prisoners have a Hat Party that gets a little rowdy. This disturbs the ever-growing throng of monkeys (evil monkeys that hide in Chris Griffin's closet), who begin to flip switches on and off, flinging their precious monkey-waste (that San Antonio wants to buy for methane gas), and attempting a mutiny on the H.M.S. Brainden. By taking over the ship, they hope not to spend an eternity crossing the river 2 at a time.

The monkeys fight valiantly, but as often happens in naval battles, the unexpected turns the tides. The treadmill the ship was on lost power, causing a sudden jerk. The prisoners, with their ankles still shackled, are held in place, but the monkeys go flying out the window. No lights are on in the ship because the last switch was left in the 'Off' position. When the lights come on, the prisoners find only one casualty. But upon closer inspection, they see it's not a prisoner, but a common farm bird.

So the only question left is--how did ThunderChicken die?

he didn't realize it was a joke, so he was seriously trying to figure out the answer to this puzzle and his head exploded!
