Question

I read the "Sailing Ship" puzzle and it made me think of another one I heard a while ago.

A man decides to drive from LA to NY. The trip is 2500 miles, which takes 3 days and a lot of stops. Which part of the car travels the farthest?

(and ignore any rotational factors like tires or engine pistons - it's just the one part of the car the actually goes the farthest from start to finish)

Well, since you referenced the sailing one, is it the tip of your antenna?

good guess with antenna, but incorrect.

on a shorter trip, that would probably be correct, but on a long one, not so much (there's my only hint for this one) ;)

Ahhhh.

luggage, surfboards, snowboards, anything carried on the roof. Bicycles standing up-right would be tallest maybe?

Points to Noct for correct answer! Good guesses to everyone else, though.

at each stop, the driver (should) remove his keys and go inside to do whatever he does. So while car is parked not moving, keys are traveling.
