0 itachi-san
send the object in the box, locked with lock #1. then send key #2 that will open lock #2. then send key #1 locked in a different box by lock #
0 Guest
My first thought is that your friend can send you a lock that s/he has the key for. That is probably too obvious, so this is a partial answer. I would lock the keyring onto a padlock.
0 Guest
can't your friend just break your lock...? just kidding you need to lock it, send it to him, he should add another lock and send it back to you. you need to remove your's and then send it to him. now he can open his lock. that way both of you know that the box wasn't compromise. 0 Guest
Put the object in the box then lock the box with a lock and mail it. Mail another package with the key to the lock.

0 Guest
Put the object in the box then lock the box with a lock and mail it. Mail another package with the key to the lock. there are chances that someone will steal both the mails
0 Guest
I assume that a key alone can't be sent in an open mail. Also the problem states that the box has a locking ring "big enough for a lock and not a number of locks. This prevents your friend locking the box with his own lock and sending it back, which seems to be the popular answer.
0 Guest
there are chances that someone will steal both the mails ... but that also means no matter how we solve this puzzle even if we got it right, there will always be someone who will steal our mail =_=" Okay assuming it is a wacky puzzle... Put the object in the box. Make a trip to your friend's mailbox and put the box inside. (Optional) Stay and keep watch. or assuming this puzzle is actually talking about a virtual mail... Put the valuable inside a zipped file(box). Secure the zipped file using an encryption(lock) algorithm. Attach the zipped file to an email and mail it. Sms the key to decrypt the zipped file to your friend so he/she can open it.

0 Guest
Have your friend send you one of his locks (unlocked of course.) Use that lock to secure the package and send it back to your friend.
0 Guest
Use a combination lock. It doesn't say you have to send a key. When your friend calls to find out whats up w/ the box, you give him the combination. Edited January 4, 2012 by Michael Brink
0 Guest
I assumed that the package was only being sent once... Why wouldn't we just get the friend to send a lock, he keeps the key, and we use that to lock it?
