This is a game I thought of that is a mixture between Rollo and Masterword.

Rules:

The host (that's me!!) will start by choosing a word and keeping it a secret from the other players. It can be any number of letters and must be in the Oxford Dictionary: http://oxforddictionaries.com/

My word: XXXX

The other players will make guesses at the word. The host will then score the words based on how many letters were correct (not in the correct spot, just letters that were found in the word). Each correct letter is worth one point.

Billy - NONE = 1

Jane - TIME = 0

Steve - STOP = 3

So...

Billy - 1

Jane - 0

Steve - 3

Paula - 0

If someone guesses the word correctly, they get all of the points for getting the correct letters (in this case, 4) plus 10 points.

Paula - HOST = 4

NEW SCORES

Billy - 1

Jane - 0

Steve - 3

Paula - 9 (4 correct letters plus correct word bonus)

Er, isn't this just Masterword with a few tweaks?

It's probably a bit easier or something though. Because you can eliminate a whole lot of letters, and you don't have to do complicated logicky stuff to score points, so it's easier to get onto the scoreboard.

hmm...that's true... how about if you do come up with a word that is an anagram they get all of the points for that word but don't get the extra 5 points? and then the game keeps going until someone finally 'unscrambles' the word?

Oh, that's clever. Is a word accepted if n_guess =/= n_word?

And perhaps giving .5 points for letters in incorrect positions and 1 point for letters in correct positions will fix the anagram hole while still remaining not-so-clear on which letters are correct.
