Question

So here's an idea for a game I had today. I'm still developing some of the fine points and running some simulations in excel, so if there's a positive response I will create a new thread with the tweaked rules.

The objective is to recieve votes from other players, but not the most votes (exactly one is always ideal). Say we have 15 players. We will have 24 hours to solicit votes from other players. You can trade votes or whatever. You can make deals in PM's, on the message board or whatever. The final votes will be PMd to the host so they are secret. At the end of the round, all players with no votes are eliminated. However, the players with the most votes is also eliminated. Working out how to handle ties but I have some ideas. The game will end when there is one or two players left after the eliminations and they will be declared winner (or co-winners). Maybe then I will post votes so that we can see how everyone voted, maybe double crosses?

Here's a quick example (with no ties for simplicity)

15 players in 1st round (players A-O)

A - 4 votes

B - 2 votes

C - 2 votes

D - 1 vote

E - 1 vote

F - 1 vote

G - 1 vote

H - 1 vote

I - 1 vote

J - 1 vote

K-O - 0 votes each.

Players A and K- O are eliminated

9 players in 2nd round

B - 3 votes

C - 2 votes

D - 1 vote

E - 1 vote

F - 1 vote

G - 1 vote

H-J - 0 votes

players B and H-J are eliminated

5 players in 3rd round

C - 2 votes

D - 1 vote

E - 1 vote

F - 1 vote

G - 0 votes

C and G are elimated

3 players in Final Round

D votes for E

E votes for F

F votes for E

F wins as D (0 votes) and E (2 votes) are eliminated.

(in the event that they all have 1 vote, there will be a revote and will be handled differently than a regular tie for most votes)

Thoughts?

An interesting idea. It has some similarities to unreality's game. In that game, after people signed up, they PM'd unreality which team they wanted to be on (A or B). Then people were allowed to talk on the thread and PM each other to figure out everyone who was on their selected team. A team won if one of the players on it could successfully identify all of their teammates. Of course, if you got it wrong, you were "killed" and eliminated from play.

It's similar because it involves the same sort of game theory and planning (I assume that you can't vote for yourself, right? ).

right, no voting for yourself. I imagined a situation where you would broker a deal with someone to vote for each other, meanwhile you either don't vote for that person or get a bunch of other people to vote for them as well. Some trust would be involved and some reasoning I think.

Cool jake...was thinking last night, maybe we do a small test run with five players or so, to at least simulate the last round or two.

I'm also thinking that for ties I will do the following:

If everyone has exactly one vote, we will revote until this is not the case.

If there is just a tie at the top we will be given an hour to change our vote (all initial 0's are still out, so maybe I will announce the tie and say you can only change your vote to one of the tied). If there is still a tie then I will random.org to break the tie.

So lets's see if we can't get 5 or so people signed up.

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Also if anyone has a better name, I'm game. I'm leaning towards Chicago

Social Darwin and I actually formed Team C. It was understood that if either of us won, Team C would win, but no one would know about it. :P I think Team A ended up winning because the two people on Team B died, lol.

Anyway, cool game idea. ...I somehow feel like I'll get voted off. *shivers from a bad Survivor memory*
