Question

Which is the opposite of 6?

Possible answers :

1) - 6

2) 9

I think both are correct. This is more a proof that the "truth" depends on the point of view of a person than a question.

Proof:

1) Mathematicaly, x is opposite to y when x = -y. So the opposite of 6 is -6.

2) The question was not "Which is the opposite number to 6", so let's not forget that 6 is also a glyph. When rotated 180 degrees the glyph is transformed to the glyph of number 9. The word "opposite" means also "Rotated by 180 degrees", so the opposite of 6 is 9.

it seems to me that letters are opposed to numbers. But I can see how they would be equivelant as well and U might be the more correct answer. I agree that -6 or 1/6 is more correct, i was just going down a different line of thought.

Not sure where we are here, but the opposite of SIX is SIX in a mirror placed under the word - like image in a clear lake.

Or, if we wos in ancient Rome, then the opposite of sex might be caelibātus.
