0 Guest
I can make it 88 by puting a mirror next to it.. or I can make it 3 by hiding half of it, but i can't see how to get 12.

Soemthing else: you don't do ANYTHING to it...no adding or hiding changing. the number doesn't move. nothing in it changes
0 Guest
How about putting "x 1.5" next to it?
0 peace*out
How about putting "x 1.5" next to it? you do nothing to it. that includes adding to it. no but good try!
0 Guest
Here's my guess. Look at it from the top. It will look like the top of the number 12.

0 Guest
I agree with the previous two. It's a digital clock! Of course, you'll have rather a longer wait if you're looking at the hours figure!
0 Molly Mae
wait four minutes I don't think that would be actively "changing" it as much as it would be passively "waiting for it to change."

0 Guest
This isn't an answer, but maybe could lead to one: Could it have something to do with putting an 8 over roman numeral X, which is 0.8 right-side up, but 1.25 upside down? 0 Guest
YES! You got it! welcome to the den - i'm happy that your first post is solving a riddle First of all congrats to englishgal for her solution, but peace*out, I don't think I like the question if that's the preferred answer. The way I was taught roman numerals was that if you had any repeating numbers they couldn't be followed by a bigger number. In other words IIX is not possible; the correct form of 8 in Roman numerals is VIII. Wikipedia confirms my memory on how Roman Numeral notation was taught. 0 peace*out
Couldn't it be on a calculator. press +, 4, and enter and then it will be a twelve. And you never touched it. but you edited it. You added to it. The clarification is "no touching" but the original answer talked about no editing, adding, or affecting it in anyway.
