Question

A man and a woman were driving in their car when it broke down. The man decided to go for help at a gas station a few miles back. He made sure nobody was in the car, rolled all the windows up, and locked all of the sedan's doors. He went off, but when he came back, his wife was dead, and there was a stranger in the car. No physical damage was done to the car, so how did the stranger get in?

He was already in the car

Yes, but how did the stranger get in the car? He (the man) had made sure nobody was in the (locked with windows up) car when he set out to get help. I'm still confused.

Think about it like this. The man left his pregnant wife in the car. No one else was in the car that he could see. His wife birthed the child while he was gone, and died as a result. The child was a stranger to him, and his wife was dead.
