all the lines are relevant to the riddle.

oh woe is me

the clergy claimed me a betrayer

and folk said i came too early

although i only appear quite rarely

im only counted as an extra

so ill turn my face and disappear

so another more loved can come.

It is a blue moon. That fits every line.

exactly

oh woe is me (sadness= blue)

the clergy claimed me a betrayer (clergy believed it of blue moons)

and folk said i came too early ( folklore believed it so)

although i only appear quite rarely (once in a blue moon)

im only counted as an extra (blue moon is an xtra)

so ill turn my face and disappear (phases of the moon)

so another more loved can come. (the next phase)
