0 Wilson
Man, could have guessed forever with this epic poem. This particular line conjured up Icarus. Disastrous instruction = Recipe for disaster Recipe-regardless = cipe cipe - arise(back up?) = Epic
0 plainglazed
Hey Wilson, I think you more specifically hit on the {riddle's answer} references any of which may have been potentially better topics. Was hoping together they would lead to the answer as a WAI. Suspected someone would discover the answer from the PoWs more quickly tho. You did indeed nail the third play on words in the riddle (for arise I did mean go up; like you read a page from the top down, to read up might mean to read backwards?). This one was obviously the most obscure but all three where supposed to blend into the WAI portion of the riddle, as well. Nice find/solve. Excuses below. Hope I did not unnecessarily drag this one out too much longer than needed. Most enjoyable on this end. Hope all had fun. Thanks When reading this poem lend closely your eyes ___"this poem" referring to both the answer and the riddle itself; "lend closely your eyes" certainly needed when reading ___an epic and first WARNING: PoW ahead A heroic tale you will no doubt surmise ___general description of an epic Original intentions to conquer and rise ___early epics like the Iliad, Odyssey, Beowulf speak to the legends of conquest and Empire building of the times Treacherous journeys of intrigue, surprise ___more common thematic conventions of the epic in this line and in the following Behold the dangers, literal demise ___and maybe a reference to the knowledge and skill required of the epic poet hence the "literal (meaning of letters) demise" ___but also "literal (meaning to the letter) demise" second WARNING: PoW ahead. Her prince each and every second decries ___and also a PoW: "Her prince" each and every second (letter) <-> epic Disastrous instruction regardless arise ___and also a PoW: "Disastrous instruction" = recipe (for disaster), regard = re, less = minus, arise = go up <-> epic No end to this piece, puzzles disguise ___and also a PoW: "No end to this piece" = piec; puzzles disguise = anagram <-> epic The fate of the people determined if wise. ___finishing up the thematic conventions of the epic So now you must certainly, me recognize. ___EPIC
