Question

I'll tell you before we get started that this is in the same format as "life in the kingdom" was, but it's shorter. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it! :D

I think that the beginning is the best place to start.

Bound for Virginia settlers depart.

By the Chesapeake Bay is where Jamestown sat,

Filled with patriotic men and women with lacy hats.

As the country grew, it’s freedom was saved,

Well, everyone except those who were enslaved.

Some of them were teased, others were shunned,

Causing both North and South to pull out their guns.

The civil war started, the military divided,

Both sides were stubborn, but it eventually subsided.

The South was still mad, but back they started to trickle,

Even though their attitude was as sour as a pickle.

Lucky for us, the war here was through,

But then we got into World War II.

To help out over seas, we grew gardens in our yards,

And anything we didn’t eat, we gave to others in jars.

I think that I’ll finish with something from today,

Because we know today is tomorrow’s yesterday.

Even though history may sometimes seem unreal,

You may be making it when you can’t stop honking on the wheel.

I don't actually know that much about bonnets. I've heard of baby bonnets and Easter bonnets. I guess that since women wore them back then and most of the settlements were all about the religion, I'll guess Easter bonnet.

You don't have to know all that much about bonnets! it's neither baby nor Easter. Keep guessing though!

P.S. You know more than me, because I hadn't heard of either before!

lacy bonnets? If the missing word is directly connected to bonnet then I'm probably at a loss. If it isn't, then I'll concentrate on the patriotic men and guess "yankee".

maybe beret for stanza 2...

No, sorry.

Yes, do concentrate on the patriotic men now.

1. sun 0r rain

2. draw

3. bad or spoil

4. can

5.blow or drive

ok here I go....lol

4 is half right, but each answer has two words in it, one describing the other.

can food..or can share

actually, can is the second word

maybe "loyal bonnet"

For 4 I'll try "canned vegetables"?

it does have to do with vegtables, but a little more specific. And sooner or later you'll get the patriotic part...

Trying again...

3. sour grapes, bad grapes, or apples as the fruit

4.share wares

5. road rage

3-how'd you get friut?

5-that is what I'm reffering to, but not the answer

2) pole arms

5) noise pollution

No and no.

take up

not sure what you mean by that...

Me too, and with this one as a whole. That's definitely not to say I'm not enjoying this txmom2. Who here doesn't have a little masochistic streak in them anyway.

all I gots to go with bonnet that is the least remotely associated with the rest is "Scotch"

I will tell you that this is nowhere near remotley close to the rest. The answer will make you use your brains, and I don't think anyone will expect that the actual answer is actually the actual answer.

These are the state symbols of Texas

I think that the beginning is the best place to start.

Bound for Virginia settlers depart.

By the Chesapeake Bay is where Jamestown sat,

Filled with patriotic men and women with lacy hats. - This could be bluebonnet the state flower or Blue Lacy the state dog

As the country grew, it’s freedom was saved,

Well, everyone except those who were enslaved.

Some of them were teased, others were shunned,

Causing both North and South to pull out their guns. - Northern Mocking Bird the state bird

-Something about there two verses gives me the pecan (pee-can with trickle and jars) but also the prickly pear (pair with pickle and WWII)

I think that I’ll finish with something from today,

Because we know today is tomorrow’s yesterday.

Even though history may sometimes seem unreal,

You may be making it when you can’t stop honking on the wheel. - Longhorn one of the the state animals
