  1. Psst! Captain... Ask the guards if we can buy armor and the like here. Maybe find out what the prices are too? Better yet, ask them if there's a tavern nearby - You look like you could use a drink and I'd be happy to buy you one!
  2. As the door opened, Raif saw a group of young men and women with the voice obviously belonging to the gorgeous woman who looked in charge. Of course, he wasn't exactly sure if the beauty was alcohol induced, but he introduced himself with all the charm he could muster and tried to explain why he found himself there. Since Raif was quite mystified by the circumstances he found himself, it wasn't much by way of explanation. A discussion with the woman (who he discovered was the captain) ensued and quickly the situation was apparent to everyone but Raif who was still hung over. With an air of gallantry, Raif offered to the captain to take responsibility for the health and well being of the crew seeing as the mission was dangerous and none of the others had more than the most basic of medical training. Before the captain could respond, there was a subben bolt of turbulence. On investigation, an unconscious Sarzava was discovered on the deck. Realizing his only abode thus far on the ship had thus far been a restroom, Raif declared "If I could be assigned quarters, I wouldn't mind attending to this Sarzava". A sparsely appointed room saw Raif tending to the Sarzava's concussion with some ice. Raif left his new abode to acquaint himself with the crew. After meeting them, he returned to his quarters to find a rather upset Sazzvin who described what had transpired earlier in the day. On hearing the Sarzava's request for a crown, Raif tossed him a shiny rown from his wallet saying "Here, you can borrow this although I have no idea how it's going to help heal the captain's arm. Maybe I'll check on her". Raif went to the captain's quarters where some sort of a meeting was taking place. Sounded like they were coming up with a plan for defending the ship and his name was being thrown about to defend the ropes. Raif said "As a brash young man, I was quite the athlete. My fitness is top notch and I still ought to be a good acrobat. My profession, however, makes me far more adept at saving lives rather than combat. I'll do what the captain asks me to, but I quite feel I would be far more useful tending to any injuries with medicine and alchemy rather than taking up arms". He then turned to the captain and said "Let me take a look at that wound that irresponsible Sarzava inflicted. I feel guilty in a way for drawing him out of his unconsciousness, so I'd appreciate you letting me do my duty as a medic".
  3. Extremely hung over and with an unbearable headache, Raif gets up off the floor of the toilet and checks himself for any injuries in the mirror. Nothing serious. Making sure he looks presentable, he walks warily out the door. He seems to recall Ranus saying something about a vacation or a 'change of scenery' and a long discussion where he enthusiastically climbed aboard a ship of some sort. Everything since is a bit hazy. A bout of homesickness overcomes him as he dreads being on a ship not even aware of his destination. Memories of Tessa pour over him as he reaches for his missing flask. He starts whimpering and realizes he needs to pull himself together and find out exactly what is going on. Damn that Ranus... He walks down a corridor towards a door behind which someone is barking orders in a surprisingly pleasant voice. As he approaches the door, he hears "Set a course for Venarto. Welcome, new crew members, your assistance is much appreciated". New crew members? Venarto? What kind of ship was this? His hangover suddenly lifted and he realized that this ship did not look anything like one of those fancy cruise ships. In fact, it looked ominously minimalist. Everything was functional, efficient and ugly. He gingerly knocked on the door.
  4. My character (if this is OK): Raif Hickenbottom (Tanna Druid) - Advanced healing/Acro/Basic alchemy Hailing from a rich family, Raif was a spoilt brat as a kid. When he was 6, Lady Hickenbottom was taking Raif to school when she noticed that a paper cut from earlier disappeared after her son had held her hand. After the discovery of this ability to heal, several more emerged like his ability to influence rain. Raif was sheltered from that point on and was treated like a God on earth. Surely enough, he wound up an immature, wealthy and charming young man who had gone through 4 marriages by his 30th birthday. At the age of 32, he pursued a love interest all the way to completing medical school in 3 years and setting up a practice as a doctor to demonstrate to Tessa his ability to be a responsible adult. He got his girl and soon gained notoriety as the best doctor in all three Aires with a knack for curing fatal conditions in both humans and animals. He quickly ascended to the position of medical chief of the monarchist army, where he struck up a fast friendship with Ranus. Last month, Tessa, now Raif's wife of 8 years, left him for an 18 year old sending Raif into an alcohol and drug assisted depression. Ranus thought a Druid like Raif would be perfect to watch over the young crew while Raif's mind would be off the separation. Ranus then convinced a drunk Raif to board the ship. Raif woke up in a cramped toilet with vague memories of Ranus standing over him when he passed out. A bag slung across his neck was choking him. He looked inside to find a dagger and a BSK. Checking his wallet, he finds a measly 19 crowns.

    Mythological Mafia

Seeing as there is a discussion about me, I would like to proffer the following pair of pennies Go back and check Mafia III (The one with me as the Inspector) again. I tried reasonably hard not to just come out and claim to be Inspector. No offense to anyone, but all the criticism pointed at me was unfair IMO (I am not saying this in my defense as I will explain later). The baddies were obviously angry (sour grapes) and UR got angry at me because I (somewhat inadvertently) stumbled on a loophole in the rules of the game. But for some reason, I was criticized for playing according to the rules. I had no problem with this criticism because I understood that I may have ruined the balance of that game (and paid for it with my life in the next game). I DO have a problem with everyone jumping on unreality because I know how it feels and I think unreality does not have to apologize for coming out as the Spy or for Frost confirming his Spyness. I will however point out that unreality's actions have been relatively hypocritical (no offense intended UR, just couldn't find a more polite word). He first expressed unhappiness at me exploiting the Inspector loophole, then proceeded to patch it in a very clunky (IMO) fashion with the 'wipeout' and then picked the 'unpatched' Spy role and exploited it in much the same way. I think the exploitation was not unfair since everyone knew the rules ahead of time. I just think the whole series of events was a tad hypocritical. edit: I think the wipeout is clunky because it costs the mafia their night kill and it artificially prevents the inspector from coming out with his role especially when everyone keeps pressurizing characters they suspect to reveal their roles which is something that might be crucial for a player to be able to do. It also prevents interesting tussles between two players claiming to be inspectors. Bb, the Spy role is about twice as powerful as the Inspector role since knowing who is an innocent is just as crucial as knowing who is not (IMO). In addition, the spy PICKS who to get information about as opposed to the Inspector who doesn't. Lastly, not that anyone should care what I think, but I thiink that you guys should finish this game. I am not convinced that the innocents will win since the GR and the QAs are still around. As long as they have manageable win conditions and can kill innocents (thereby assisting the mafia), I think the game is fun. Maybe UR's confirmed abilities can be reduced somehow (every other day sounds good to me). Sorry if any of this is out of place or seems like spam. Cheers! -- Vig

Intelligence has little to do with your vocabulary. At 13, I knew most of the expletives I do now and didn't hold back using them when I needed to. I think that as teenagers, you are old enough to know that these are just words intended to express emotions and nothing more. As long as you are mature and aware enough to use these words discreetly in the right situations and more importantly, avoid them in the right situations, I have no problems with teenagers being exposed to or using "bad" language. P.S. I was a bit tipsy at a baseball game and I was mouthing off along with a few other supporters of the Braves when this guy comes over and picks me out (because of my small stature amongst the others who were all tall and/or heavily built) to tell me to shut up "or there would be trouble". After pointing out that his skimpily clad daughter probably knew more about bad language than he did, I proceeded to make fun of him for the rest of the game without a trace of bad language. Being sensitive about bad language and then trying to physically intimidate someone is pretty stupid IMHO. Cheers! -- Vig
