  1. According to the workers, Brian was a nice enough guy, but he didn't talk much.
  2. The map will be important through the whole mystery. I actually put it as my desktop image so I can work on the mystery and work with the map at the same time... Brian Dennis lives off the map, next to the Climax City Hall. It's irrelevant. You fingerprint the glass. You get the results and read them. They belong to one of the cooks at the restaurant, a certain Ms. Sarah Steam. You arrest her. Sarah Steam is now available for interrogation. Now tell me what happened to Brian Henry from all the clues you got.
  3. Yes, we are allowed to blackmail. We can do anything we want. Quite literally. Mercury is the answer, there was mercury in the coffee cup. No, but the broken glass is related to the murder. Axe of Murder was discontinued. Legacy is the only active mystery at the moment. You guys are one clue away from figuring out what happened to Brian Henry.
  4. INTERROGATION: NATHAN THOMAS YOU: Do you know anything about lock-picking? THOMAS: (unsure) Erm... Well it was a long time ago, at least 15 years ago, I like to keep the... YOU: Mr. Thomas, I don't care if you broke such a minor law. THOMAS: (still unsure) I had to open my daughter's safe. I wanted to know what she had in it. It was about two months ago. YOU: Well, that does break the law of privacy.. THOMAS: My own daughter, Mr. Dennis. YOU: It doesn't matter. You are under arrest. (pause) Unless you're willing to pick a lock again. THOMAS: A blackmailing detective? YOU: Pretty much. I'll be seeing you to the d'Pratteux, won't I? THOMAS: (grumble) Very well. Take me there. You arrive at the restaurant. Nathan opens the lock and the safe swings open. Inside is a whole bunch of shattered glass. You take out one, long thin piece of glass that has tick marks up and down it. The chemist replies that you're looking for an element.
  5. I meant it's strange as in it shouldn't be empty.
  6. It's like a holder for a small, thin object. It's strange. It's not the Pegasus.
  7. The chef in the restaurant tells you the black matter in the pan used to be sautéed vegetables and swordfish steak. The chemist who can identify these non-coffee substances look at the mug. He says that it's a very dangerous substance. He will give you a riddle to which the element is referred to. Hermes once sat on a steed So quickly the steed moved along That Hermes did make it A horse made for maiming And then he named the steed after himself What is the steed? EDIT: Yes, the answer to Brian's riddle is "Dragon." As usual, remember this riddle. There's a lot of details in this mystery to be used later.
  8. INTERROGATION: MARILYN CABOT (security status elevated to suspect) Props to guppy for paying attention to the map. Five points to Guppy-dor. YOU: Wait. According to the map, you live right next door to the Hall of Fame. You don't need a shortcut through the park. CABOT: (embarrassed) Um... I was staying at the Hotel d'Pratteux... YOU: Why? CABOT: (blushes brightly) Do I really need to go into detail? You get what she's saying and blush. YOU: We're gonna need witnesses... Well, there are no witnesses... We'll need someone to prove that alibi so that.... Well... I think we can leave that there. CABOT: Thank you. YOU: So you had a very... intimate relationship with Mr. Henry? CABOT: (still embarrassed) Um... Well, yeah. Do I need to talk about this? YOU: Yes, please. This is essential. CABOT: (shaky about the whole thing) Fine. Brian and I got along well, but the reason I was at the park was because he was supposed to meet me there. When I woke up, he told me had to go to the kitchen to work. He had something important to tell me. He told me to meet him precisely at 7:45 AM. I told him ok, and it was midnight or something. Really early, I didn't know how he was up. Work was at 9:00, and it was walking distance, so I got dressed and left for the park. I saw his car in the middle of the pond, so I waved my hand, but then I slowly saw that it was crashed. That old man, Mr. Thomas, went up to me and calmly told me to call the police. It was... upsetting. Then they told me he was... he was... YOU: It's ok, ma'am. You don't have to tell us any more. CABOT: Wait. One more thing. He left a riddle for me when I woke up in the morning. Um... I have it here. Take it. It's a folded piece of paper. It's labeled, "Give this to Dennis. He'll know." You open it. I rest in sleep, you rest in peace. Upon my hoards of treasure gold. I will not rest 'til every piece of gold is in my ancient hold. You can try and hunt for me, but I have steams that prove deadly. What do you hunt for? @MiKi I hope you're a law-abiding citizen! This is not a prompt to break the law, this is a prompt to have fun fixing it! However, since everyone is afraid of you, (to be fair, you ARE a crime-fighter) no one steps up to be a locksmith. Looks like you'll have to get someone by force. EDIT: Pay special attention to the crime scene. Every detail is important.
  9. That's a lot of posts at once. I'm gonna be take this piece by piece, probably two posts, so bear with me here. I'll take care of translator first. And that is what I meant by the map will be important. One of your officers, Chang, (DISCLAIMERS: I do not intend racism, he is based off of someone I know whose last name is Chang) is actually quite fluent in Chinese. He translates the few legible characters on the scroll. He says it's an old form of Chinese, but he guesses that it's something about a snake and a chicken fighting. It also mentions a tiger and mice riding on it to reach the moon where the legendary dragon was. But the rest is faded. The tazer is not out of play, but is only legally used against known criminals. Second order of business: D'Pratteux Hotel. Officer Smithers comes with you to check out D'Pratteux while the rest of your squad waits outside. You talk to the manager, Mr. Tyler Hopewell. He leads you to the kitchen Brian Henry was a cook at. Why? He acted really strange in this very spot. Brian supposedly said that he couldn't taste the food he was cooking, ("Something about metal water" says Mr. Hopewell) starting coughing profusely, then sprinted out the kitchen, holding a bloody nose. CRIME SCENE: (not really) His cooking area itself is not suspicious. There is a burnt stove and pan and black piece of.. something in the pan. It doesn't look good. You pay attention to the countertop. Stains of glittering brown all over the counter, presumably from the empty and stained mug near the stove. There is a small trail of blood on the floor that someone had tried to clean. This must be the bloody nose Brian had. You open some shelves. Pans, pots, nothing out of the usual in a restaurant kitchen. Well, that's not counting the unopenable shelf. You break off the door. It shows a safe. You'll need a safe-cracker. Sure, it's illegal to have safe-cracker in your team, but when has the law stopped you before? (that's to you, MiKi) You examine the walls around. The walls are basic wooden walls. Nothing suspicious. There's an tiny, empty stand of sorts hanging on the wall. You ask the manager how long the restaurant has been here. He answers that it's one of the first hotels in Climax City, built 1862. It was originally near the City Hall, but the Depression tore it down. The manager's grandfather restarted the D'Pratteux here in 1946. It's one of the few five-star hotels in Climax City.
  10. INTERROGATION: MARILYN CABOT YOU: What were you doing before and during the time of the crime? CABOT: (trying hard to remember) I was sleeping, and in the morning I was late for work, so I was taking a shortcut through Juliet Park to get to the Hall of Fame. YOU: I see. Erm.. Do you mind me asking exactly what you do at the Hall of Fame? CABOT: (excited) Oh, millions of things! I handle the tours, I make sure no one messes with the statues, and we even have this fun interactive room where they get to go through the events the subjects endured? YOU: And I'm in all of this? CABOT: (nods excitedly) Oh, yes! You're one of the audience favorites! Your famous flaming bird above the bed is modeled, your battle against the Phoenix is reinacted, and there's even a giant statue of you pointing a magnifying glass at the Zodiac Wheel! YOU: Then I presume you are aware of the Zodiac Gangs? CABOT: (shrugs) I'm pretty knowledgable. I know that three have been torn apart so far, the Phoenix, the Vipers and the Sabertooths, and you took out all of them. Didn't the Phoenix come back at one point? YOU: Yes, they did, along with the Vipers. CABOT: That's right. YOU: Okay. Did you know Mr. Brian Henry? CABOT: (blush) Uh.. yeah... (pause of horror) What do you mean "did?" YOU: He is deceased. I'm sorry. Were you close? CABOT: (sad) Yeah... He was my boyfriend. YOU: I apologize. And how about Mr. Nathan Thomas? CABOT: (smile) Oh, he's the nicest old man I've ever met. I didn't know him before, but he asked kindly if I had a phone. He didn't look panicked at all, but I screamed when I saw the car. He comforted me and told me to call the police. You can go observe the Hotel d'Pratteux personally if you want. Is that what you guys want?
  11. Sorry, guys, big festival today, I was practicing yesterday for this performance I have to go to... I promise to reply this afternoon.
  12. FORENSICS: He was killed late in the night, about 1:00-1:30 in the morning. He has a bruise on his forehead and there's a cut on it. The scars on the rest of the body suggest that he was stopped suddenly in a high velocity. The skin cells around the wounds suggest he was killed from this halt or at least sometime soon after. Post mortem, he was stabbed three times, one in the arm, one in the leg, and once in the chest. His cheekbone is broken inwards, suggesting a kick or a punch to the face, again post mortem. INTERROGATION: MARILYN CABOT A young woman, age 29, works at Climax City Hall of Fame. Lives on the corner of Climax Ave and 7th Street. She has red hair, green eyes and pale skin. She's quite attractive. She has a big watch that practically covers her wrist and a headband that holds back her hair, which she knotted in a ponytail. Her smile is ecstatic, and she is overexcited about something. She was born and raised in this neighborhood of Climax City. YOU: Ms. Cabot. Nice to meet you. My name is Brian Dennis. CABOT: I know. We're working on an exhibit of you in the Hall of Fame. Nice to meet you too. YOU: ..I'm in the Hall of Fame? CABOT: Of course! Sexy knight who drives to fight against the evil Zodiac Gangs that plague the city, and the country! YOU: Heh... Thanks, I guess? But let us get down to business. CABOT: Alright. I'll ask those questions in a second, running out time at the moment. Think of more questions for now.
  13. INTERROGATION: NATHAN THOMAS YOU: When did you first meet him? THOMAS: (shrug) I think it was about a few months ago. I don't remember exactly. Is it important? YOU: Maybe. What other contact have you had with him? THOMAS: (smile) I've actually not seen him much. Every now and then, we'd see each other, but that's about it. YOU: I see. Now, who was this young lady you were talking about? THOMAS: (shrugs carelessly) I don't know her name. But she was the woman with the red hair and the nice suit? YOU: I think we know who you're talking about. Her name is Marilyn Cabot. (you can interrogate MARILYN CABOT now) THOMAS: Possibly.
  14. @MiKi Well, constantly tazing people isn't the most polite, but you don't come off as rude to me. Please do, let's keep our detective as legal as possible... INTERROGATION: NATHAN THOMAS YOU: Thank you for helping us so much already. I just have a few more questions to ask, is that OK? THOMAS: I'm fine. I'm a healthy old man. (you and he laugh) YOU: Okay, well, how do you know Mr. Henry? THOMAS: (smiles pleasantly) Oh, I don't know him that much. I think I first met him when he was smoking outside the Hotel D'Pratteux. I told him smoking was bad. He smiled and put it out. Nice little kid. Such a shame. YOU: Do you know if he had any enemies? THOMAS: (pleasant smile) I can't imagine so, he was such a nice guy. YOU: Ok. I do want to check though, there was absolutely nothing out of the ordinary? THOMAS: (rubs chin) I am an old man. But from what I saw, yes, there was nothing else. YOU: Okay. How long did you wait until after you saw the car to call the police? THOMAS: I called out for help as soon as I saw it. A nice young lady used her phone to call the police. YOU: I see. Also, do you know anything about the Zodiac Gangs? THOMAS: (another pleasant smile.. wait, was that a twitch?) I might have from somewhere. Nasty people, from what I hear. Little delinquents causing trouble. You can get a translator and the results from Forensics as soon as you leave the interrogation.
  15. @marhart15 Sorry, I'll slow down a little. INTERROGATION: NATHAN THOMAS (witness) Mr. Nathan Thomas, 78, is a grey-haired, green-eyed old man with pleasant wrinkles that form a smile. He has some nice whiskers that stretch across his upper lip almost to his cheeks. He has an unusually strong stature for a man his age. He lives in the red house on Saunderson Ave. He has no criminal record. In fact, he moved in only about six years ago. YOU: Nice to meet you, Mr. Thomas. I understand you're one of the witnesses who found the car in the lake? THOMAS: That's right. YOU: I see. I just have a few questions for you, and you'll be on your way. THOMAS: Ask away. YOU: What do you do at 7 AM in Juliet Park? THOMAS: (pleasant smile) Nothing, really. I just like to take my morning walks. YOU: That's an awfully long distance. Impressive, Mr. Thomas. THOMAS:(pleasant smile) I like my daily exercise. YOU: Very well. Besides the car, did you see anything else unusual from your usual walks? Landmarks, footsteps, any people? THOMAS: (smile, then frown) Nothing in particular. But I very well may have missed something, I was so in shock from seeing the car. What a terrible accident, no? YOU: Indeed. I have a picture here of who we think is the driver. He was murdered by several stabs all over his body. Do you know him? (you show him a picture of Brian Henry) THOMAS: (mournful) Ah, yes. Brian Henry. Charming young man. What a shame that he's gone. Do you know why they did it to him? YOU: Unfortunately not. We'll learn that once we catch the murderer. THOMAS: (cheery) Ah, yes. Well, I hope you find them soon. Any more questions, or dismiss him?
  16. Brian Dennis Returns.
  17. @MiKi Sigh... Sure. Returns was the one right after Malicious Undead. It was irrelevant to the plot. Two kids, Sergio and Amanda, faked a kidnapping and ran away to start their own lives. INTERROGATION: Interrogation is a little different this time around. There are three levels of suspicion to the person you're interrogating; witness, suspect, and criminal. You call the level of suspicion. The reason for this is the police station puts different amount of security per person. I don't think you want to interrogate a criminal on a sofa in a nice lighted room, and an innocent person tied down with a light shining in his face. If you just met the person and you don't know, then you can call out suspect. Nathan Thomas is available for interrogation. MiKi says witness. Everyone agree? Also, what questions?
  18. INVESTIGATION: The footprints wind around the lake, but stop at the entrance to the park. You can't really tell whether it was pushed or not, but you're guessing whoever was driving this didn't just drive his/her car into a lake and swim out, just so he can get out... Also, since the footsteps come from the lake to the corpse, you're guessing this Brian Henry was the driver... The symbols are just Chinese characters. You can get a translator. None of the witnesses remember anything. There's a Nathan Thomas, who reports that he always enters the park at the morning, and saw the car. He yelled out for help and some police officers arrived to investigate. You're almost certain they're connected; it's 7:00 in the morning in Climax City. @Flamebirde Maybe. Or maybe not. ...okay, yeah, it is.
  19. UPDATE: I completely forgot to add the map. Here it is. It's going to be a lot more important than it did in Sabertooth. Just so you know. The red mark in Juliet Park is where the current crime scene is. INVESTIGATION: There was no struggle. There is some flattened grass down the trail of the scratched trees. There are some footprints, but you're confused by the fact that there seems to be multiple trails of footprints to and from the body. You check his pockets. You find a wallet. It has a few dollars and an ID card from a Brian Henry. The ID is from the Hotel d'Pratteux. You can get more info on him from the police station and the hotel. You already have a bulletproof vest. It's helped you before, so you constantly wear it. You turn over the body. The grass is flattened from its weight, and the knife seems to have gone clear through his body, since there's blood on the ground and there's another cut on his back. The body has a bruised neck, and a black eye. The ring and pinkie finger on his right hand is broken. You call your police officer. YOU: Hey, Johnson, you found anything? JOHNSON: Nope. This trail is pretty long, though. I haven't found much interesting besides the scratched trees and the flattened grass. Should I head...wait. You gotta see this. You and some officers run down the trail and finally meet up with Officer Johnson. He's right, this trail seems to circle around the entire park and eventually to the big lake in the park. You raise your eyebrows. There's already a crowd and officers from another squad holding them back. There's a crumpled car in the bottom of the lake. There's a big tire track leading into it, presumable from the car. There's a big pile of dirt where the car seems to have slid into, and you notice the driver's seat is open. A crane pulls it out and you examine the inside. It looks pretty normal, ignoring that it's completely drenched and some seaweed floated in it. The wheel is okay, and the windshield is in one piece. The trunk is full of water, and there's a destroyed briefcase in it. You take it out gently and open it. There's a piece of paper in it. It's so drenched, you can barely read it, but you make out a few brushed symbols that look like Chinese. You tell some officers to send the corpse to Forensics. You can investigate the lake and the car now. EDIT: Double post, whoops.

  21. Whoa. Lots of replies at once. INVESTIGATIONS: The scratches on the tree continue, almost in marks. You send a policeman in the crime scene to follow the trail to investigate more. The knife is plunged in the chest. The tree is about three feet away from the body. You check some rocks for scratches. You see a flower whose stem looks like it's been cut in half. The cuts on the body look like it's made by the same knife as the one in his chest. Could be that the Zodiac Gangs want to kill you. I mean, you DID tear apart three of them. You open the hands. You find a note crumpled in his hand. It reads, "Next is you, Detective Dennis." Yeah, I think they want to kill you. You take the knife and note and put it in a bag for fingerprints. Felino's family data rests in the police station. You can travel there later, but you might want to check some more stuff here, because, although you owe them your lives, you KNOW that the police officers will mess up the crime scene. Okay, so you guys can look more, or you can call the police officer to see what he's got so far on the scratched trees. If you want to pick up what you can about the body currently, you can, or you can send the body to Forensics and let them tell you what they found. @MiKi Sigh... Yes, you do. But laws now apply to Climax City. You cannot perform cruel and unusual punishment. Like tazing them over and over.
  22. New Brian Dennis is up!

  23. WARNING: Some graphic violence. Viewer discretion is advised. (I feel so official! ) Also, incredibly sappy, I mean, there’s a love interest. Your name is Brian Dennis. You are remembering the old days while fighting the Zodiac Gangs. I will tell you what your surroundings and situation are, and you tell me what to do. I’ll tell you what happens once you do so. You have a M9 pistol, phone, contact book, and a police squad up your sleeve to command. Context: You have just defeated the Sabertooths along with your newfound love, Tigrisa. You have so far taken out the Phoenix and the Vipers. You were mortally wounded by the boss of the Sabertooths. Or so you thought... COMMANDS AND TERMS: CRIME SCENE: Here, you can observe anything you want. I’m gonna give as detailed a description as possible. INVESTIGATE: Basically “look more closely at different details.” You may uncover clues and such. CLUES: I tell you all the clues that may help you in your current situation. INTERROGATE: You interrogate anyone you have in custody or prison. RAID: You and your trusty police squad (now equipped with better weaponry in order to deal with the Zodiac Gangs) raid a certain location. DISGUISE: You dress up as anyone you want. If you want to look like someone specific, name the outfit and physical description (eye color, hair color, and skin color) and stuff. I will tell you all about each new character you meet. You yourself are brown-haired, brown-eyed and light skin. INSTINCT: You will do one thing that your gut tells you to do. You can perform one only three times in the mystery. Imagine it like a cheat code. [December 25, Year 2034] You and Tigrisa are sitting in your retirement home. Sergio and Amanda are listening to you retell the story of the Sabertooths and how you and Tigrisa met. SERGIO: In the chest? What happened, you died? YOU: Well, I’m still here, aren’t I? AMANDA: Finish the story! YOU: Hm.. I woke up in a hospital, cords all over me. I woke up with Tigrisa by my side... You start remembering. [March 14, Year 2010] YOU: Ugh... Where the hell am I? You’re in a hospital bed. You can’t feel anything except some heavy resting on your chest and arms. You try to recollect everything that happened. Some tigers leaping across the sky, running around with Tigrisa, running into the headquarters, and, heh, dying... You see Tigrisa sleeping by your side. Croakily, you say her name. She wakes up in an instant. TIGRISA: Thank God, you’re still alive! She looks away. She obviously still feels guilty about what she did to you. YOU: Is he dead? TIGRISA: Yes. The Sabertooths have no leader. All the gang members were arrested, killed, or ran away. I think some got away, though. YOU: Well, my work here is done. TIGRISA: What? Don’t you go dark on me, Brian Romulus Dennis! YOU: Heh, I’m not going anywhere, Tigrisa. TIGRISA: Ok. I’ll call in the doctor. [December 25, Year 2034] YOU: For a long time, I recovered slowly and took to destroying the next Zodiac Gangs. Tigrisa told me of a Round Robin of all the Zodiac Gang leaders. I visited the place. [December 9, 2011] YOU: So this is the place? Looks like they left. CRIME SCENE: The only part that distinguishes it from the lush forest around it is the bloody corpse on the ground. Male, about 5’9”, brown hair, brown eyes, and light skin. From what you see of the carcass, there are 9 cuts in random places of the body. A knife is placed in the middle of his chest. Both hands are clenched tight. Oh, also, there’s a trail of blood about 2 feet away from the victim’s head. It extends for only about half a foot. It seems dry enough to have been there awhile. When you move the body, you find that the grass under it is dead. There are a few scratches on the tree bark about 5 o’clock from the site. What would you like to investigate?
