  1. If so, wouldn't it be either? Both would be radii.

I think the OP meant to describe a rectangular parallelepiped. Otherwise his head and chest would themselves not be rectangles. Vertical rainfall is a reasonable assumption, just means there is no wind. Also, the density was probably meant to be 200 drops/m3 With those changes, the OP gives a solvable puzzle.
  3. I'm not getting what the bounds of "an angled patch" are. Sounds like a triangle one of whose sides is 3 m. What are the other two sides?

What ever happened to the use of spoilers, btw?

You have a heat pump. You're pumping heat from the interior of the fridge to the exterior of the fridge. If you're choosing the part of the fridge's exterior that gets the heat, then If it's winter, and you want to heat the house, it will be beneficial to vent the fridge to the kitchen. If it's summer, and you want to cool the house, it will be beneficial to vent the fridge to the outside.
  6. Nice analysis. But we need the percentage of volume that remains.

    Counting symmetries?
  8. bonanova

Nope. That would make three. One of the cats slid off. Which of the cats did not?
  9. bonanova

    Soooooooooo close.

Bravo. You gave a highly cogent, complete and lucid explanation. You did everything except give the [what now should be embarrassingly obvious] answer.
  11. bonanova

That could be the reason as well. But can you state the difference in physical terms? OK no more clues... OK one more We needn't assume the cats are twins.
  12. Alex slides a cold one down the bar to nobody. Umm.. you're missing a paren, but I'll consider that a typo. The intent is clear.
  13. bonanova

That could be why. But can you phrase it in cat-physics terms? The physics majors have an advantage here.
  14. bonanova

"The other one" is ruled out in the Hint. Furrriction properties definitely are involved. Getting close. Let's assume the cats sit on physically identical roofs. It's something about the cats themselves that makes the difference.
  15. bonanova

Good lateral thinking, but not the answer. Let's assume no impediments, and the cat we're looking for doesn't slide at all.
  16. bonanova

Or do we assume same slope for both?
  17. A bit on the low side. You can't cut more than a certain amount if the new faces become triangles.
