    When I divide it by 2, the remainder is 1.

    When I divide it by 3, the remainder is 2.

    When I divide it by 4, the remainder is 3.

    When I divide it by 5, the remainder is 4.

    When I divide it by 6, the remainder is 5.

    When I divide it by 7, the remainder is 6.

    When I divide it by 8, the remainder is 7.

    When I divide it by 9, the remainder is 8.

    When I divide it by 10, the remainder is 9.

    It's not a small number, but it's not really big, either.

    When I looked for a smaller number with this property I couldn't find one.

    Can you find it?

  3. You can pose this puzzle with 10 bulbs instead of with 100.

    But then it's too easy to grind it out; boring.

    Here's another way to see the solution.

    Observation 1. Switches flipped an odd number of times are left ON.

    Solution: Squares are left ON, since they have an odd number of distinct factors.

    you are saying that the equally likely cases are the numbers of reds and greens.

    5 red 0 green = same likelihood as

    4 red 1 green = same likelihood as

    3 red 2 green = same likelihood as

    2 red 3 green

    Like that defines 4 equally likely cases.

    Is that what you're saying?

    That statement is true whether any or all of the other three cups were removed initially or not.

    That is, there are no circumstances that force you to pick 2 particular cups that do not have a 12/26 chance of having the same color,
