Spoiler for #1
Oh this is how it starts, lightning strikes the heart. It goes off like a gun, brighter than the sun. Oh we could beat the starts, faliing from the sky. Shining how we want, brighter than the sun. - Brighter Than the Sun.

For the max number of slices
2n - 2 n = 2 or 3
2n - 2 + SUM[I=2 to n-2](I) + SUM[I=3 to n-2](I) + ... + SUM[I=n-2 to n-2](I) n > 3
4 points gives a max of 2(4) - 2 + SUM[I=2 to 2](I) = 6 + 2 = 8
5 points gives a max of 2(5) - 2 + SUM[I=2 to 3](I) + SUM[I=3 to 3](I) = 8 + 5 + 3 = 16.
6 points gives a max of 2(6) - 2 + SUM[I=2 to 4](I) + SUM[I=3 to 4](I) + SUM[I=4 to 4](I) = 10 + 9 + 7 + 4 = 30
