#326048 Reversephotospectives

Posted by rookie1ja on 15 October 2012 - 03:19 PM

Reversephotospectives combine 3D sculpture with black and white photographic images to create an artwork which interacts with the viewer - or it tricks the viewer into thinking it's moving.

#319420 BrainDen Site - New Design

Posted by rookie1ja on 20 June 2012 - 11:30 AM

It was time for a change. 8 years of blue was enough. Maybe after another 8 years I will go back to blue again, who knows ;)

Old logo still remains as my avatar, however, I wanted a new/modern one. The colorful brain is made out of several stripes which work together, fit together and bind a powerful brain - just like the community here. The "Den" inside the brain should make it easier to associate the logo with "BrainDen".

"Forum" link on non-forum pages
I had to cut down a lot of links and introduce the real minumum of primary links - so there are 4 links in the main menu now (actually only 3 on mobile to fit smaller mobile screen). Link to forum is on every page in the footer, and also after every brain teaser (in solution spoiler). There is also a separate page dedicated to the 15 latest puzzles/riddles from the forum - http://brainden.com/new-riddles.htm
Forum is also mentioned in regular text of homepage, best puzzles page, contact page and several other places.
Latest puzzles from forum are feeded into Google Gadgets, twitter and facebook.

Of course, all of you could make this forum more prominent if you would link to it from your school pages, your personal blog, facebook/twitter accounts, other websites you visit etc ;)

#318899 BrainDen Brain Teasers Android App

Posted by rookie1ja on 17 June 2012 - 11:02 PM

Great news for all who have Android mobile phones. You can enjoy the classic brain teasers which started the whole site in a very simple application.

Check out the following Google Play page, from where you can download the app.

It's not only in Slovak but also in English language - you can switch between both in the app easily.

Enjoy and let me know your comments.

#318327 I'm Assassin, But I promise to never kill anyone of you ^_^

Posted by rookie1ja on 13 June 2012 - 07:44 AM

@Rookie Could you please put a taser on the 404 error screen?

Thanks for the suggestion. If anybody could draw some quality vector graphics symbolizing BrainDen (eg. including taser) then I will consider putting it on 404 page ;)

#315412 Glad it's back!

Posted by rookie1ja on 03 May 2012 - 08:53 PM

Thanks to all and especially to plainglazed who moved and titled hundreds of threads.

Anybody can report to him (or me) any significant threads which should be moved to other forum section and need title due to high probability of further use in the future.

#315289 BrainDen Forums are Back (sort of)

Posted by rookie1ja on 27 April 2012 - 10:04 AM

Hi there,

this is rookie1ja, admin of BrainDen Brain Teasers Forums. Note that the forums were not available since January 2012 up till now (April 27) due to severe physical disk damage. Since then I was trying to retrieve as much info as possible.

Hosting provider, external data recovery firm and forum helpdesk were all trying to help, however, the process was long and only small steps were being made. After months of chasing, refusing insufficient data, insisting on giving it second/third and many other tries we have started to get more and more. To cut the long story short, external data recovery firm (and hosting provider) got more data out of the disk after I did not accept what they delivered the first time and forum helpdesk were real magicians to get that minimum to work somehow.

Good News:
The forum is more or less working.

Bad News:
Not all could have been rescued. You may notice several issues:
1. all forum titles are lost (fortunately posts in them should be OK)
2. all threads are in single forum section "New Logic/Math Puzzles"
3. all members who have not posted might be lost
4. all other members are probably existing but their email is lost and there might be issues with log in

Old members that would like to continue with their old username, pls send me (admin@brainden.com) the following data and I will manually restore your old account.
1. username
2. password
3. email

What to do next?
1. There are many more issues and you can report them along with your comments/suggestions in this thread.
2. If you could notify other former members, we could slowly start to rebuild the community.

Thanks a lot for your patience and I hope we can make the site work again.

#754 Think about these

Posted by rookie1ja on 09 June 2007 - 01:05 PM

Think about these - Back to the Paradoxes

    1. Let's say (hypothetically) there is a bullet, which can shoot through any barrier. Let's say there is also an absolutely bullet-proof armour, and nothing gets through it. What will happen, if such bullet hits such armour?

    2. Can a man drown in the fountain of eternal life?

    3. Your mission is to not accept the mission. Do you accept?

    4. This girl goes into the past and kills her Grandmother. Since her Grandmother is dead the girl was never born, if she was never born she never killed her grandmother and she was born.

    5. If the temperature this morning is 0 degrees and the Weather Channel says, "it will be twice as cold tomorrow,".... What will the temperature be?

    6. Answer truthfully (yes or no) to the following question: Will the next word you say be no?

    7. What happens if you are in a car going the speed of light and you turn your headlights on?

    8. I conclude with this challenge:
Let the God Almighty create a stone, which he can not pick up (is not capable of lifting)!

#753 A few sentences from life

Posted by rookie1ja on 09 June 2007 - 01:04 PM

A few sentences from life - Back to the Paradoxes

1. Nobody goes to that restaurant, because it is too crowded.

2. Don't go near the water, till you have learned how to swim.

3. The man who wrote such a stupid sentence, can not write at all.

4. If you get this message, call me, and if you don't get it, don't call.

5. ADVERTISEMENT: Are you an analphabet? Write a letter and we will send you free of charge instructions how to undo it.

#749 Lazy-bones Paradox

Posted by rookie1ja on 09 June 2007 - 12:55 PM

Lazy-bones Paradox - Back to the Paradoxes

If destiny designed a master plan, which defines everything that is to happen, isn't it useless to for example go to a doctor? If I am ill and it is my destiny to regain health, than I will regain health whether I visit a doctor or I don't. And if I shall not be healthy again, than I will not with or without help.
If I am ill and destiny has a definite plan for me, than it is useless to go anywhere.
How could you question the presented opinion?
