Question

There was once a young boy

Who lost his favorite toy.

He had a four letter nickname

That I'd like to know.

I'd also like you to reveal

How did this young boy feel?

Initials are good for last name.

Now find the answer below.

n, t, h, e, s, d

start

tires

tests

tasted

tithes

tents

If you seek more assistance

You'll have to seize it this instance

With a writ of assistance

But I won't let you seize this

Because I can take the which,

Which amendment?

--

I hope this is as hard to solve as it was difficult to create! I also hope I didn't screw it up somehow, and that it is solvable, lol

By the way, the name is pretty rare, but the feeling is not

All the pieces you do see,

But puzzled you still may be

If so, listen close to me

I will give you every key:

Interesting are the words and letters

When they are examined together

And if you can find this neat observation

Then restructure order, for organization

Lastly apply the clue of the second verse

Or cheat with this: take every fourth

This was what I did before :( I still get

Seth E was Sad.'

Or Hester ...

Hest E was Sad.

Look at the letters, one at a time, in relationship to all of the words.

Then...

"restructure order, for organization

Lastly apply the clue of the second verse

Or cheat with this: take every fourth"

Nothing right so far

I gave my last hint... just keep playing with those letters and words and see if you see something. It's probably better to send me ideas of methods, like txmom2 did, rather than just guesses

Clues given:

8 letters; 4 first name, 1 last initial, 3 feeling (sad)

take every 4th letter

look at given letters individually!

Look at the letters, one at a time, in relationship to all of the words.

Then...

"restructure order, for organization

Lastly apply the clue of the second verse

Or cheat with this: take every fourth"

Reasoning:

N- the only word with 1 N = tents

T- the only word with 1 T = tires

H- the only word with 1 H = tithes

E- the only word without an E = start

S- the only word with 2 S's = tests

D- the only word with 1 D = tasted

take every 4th letter like so:

tenTs tiRes tItheS staRt teSts tAsteD

TRIS R. SAD

Tris can be a nickname for Tristan..not exactly a common name, although sadness is..

Sound reasoning, I think, and a new way to look at it! ::fingers crossed:: :)

I think this is brilliant. And I agree it works perfectly. But, when he said that someone else's guess was too complicated. I think this is WAY too complicated. I still think it's something simpler.

Thanks! I don't really see how it's complicated, could just be the way I explained it. You could be right that there's a simpler way but this fits everything he's already told us...

You got it! =P

Nah...

The original idea was to get a group of words with similar letters, but still distinguishable, and distinguishable in different ways. I was happy when I made such a group of words, but then the trick was making a message or word out of them... and this was the best I came up with. Tris R. lol. Like I said, very rare name... I'll try to make a better answer next time

Nope... you can't guess it, you gotta use the stuff that comes after the rhymes

The given words don't mean anything. They were selected for their letters

I'm starting to feel bad about putting this puzzle in a riddles section... =/

Don't. I think it's fascinating, and I haven't even gotten to the end yet. Then again, I like both the word and the math/logic puzzles (especially logic...)

Well, I got to the end, and I still liked it. :)

Welcome!

Yay! The hardest part was figuring out how to rearrange the words... Lotsa fun!
