Question

Letters and words, jumbled and mixed.

See if you can solve the riddle I’ve fixed.

Used quite often, to which I pertain,

A certain number which my letters contain.

You took a picture, and smudged it with a tool.

Someone’s good name, and made them the fool.

The old lady’s at it again.

Giving me chores with verbal refrain.

I'll tell you how many letters are in the word. 7. I can't really tell you how the riddle works, because that's the point of the whole riddle. But, I will tell you that the couplets go towards one idea-they're together. But, only one of them has one letter, the other two couplets represent "three letters." I hope this helps a little and not too much.

Am i correct in assuming
there are 6 letters in the word?

A small hint to get things going

It's a 3 part word. The first stanza is the clue to the word/how to work the riddle. The last three are parts of the word. More than that I will not say for now. I reread that second stanza. I think I wrote that harder than I intended. I may reword it later if you guys need. But, if you guys think you have part of the word, please say, and help me out, here.

second stanza: a certain number which my letters contain. The word "four" contains four letters?

third: slander?

fourth: Huh? no clue yet

EDIT: should have read your post before... scratch this....

ATTENTION!!! I thought that second stanza wasn't right. And Palmer just verified it for me. I am changing that stanza.

Letters and words, jumbled and mixed.

See if you can solve the riddle I’ve fixed.

Used quite often, to which I pertain,

One singular amount which my letters contain.

You took a picture, and smudged it with a tool.

Someone’s good name, and made them the fool.

The old lady’s at it again.

Giving me chores with verbal refrain.

Okay, I'll tell you all, FOUR is not right. And SLURR/BLURR is really close to what I'm looking for. Keep digging in that area. It's not a VERY commonly used word, but used, nontheless. Remember to use the "smudging tool" and combine that idea with the other line in the couplet. Tsk=no.

I'll play along--
:']for/four;blurr/slurr;task;tsk?

Thanks guys for trying. I think you won't be disappointed when you find the answer. And, I'll help out a lot.

2. A (Correct!!!)

3. . . .

4. It's a verb. Does that help?

second - "a"

third - dunno

Fourth - am I right in assuming that this refers to a gesture of some sort? but a three letter gesture....

Oh!!!
It rhymes with the right answer. How cool is that?

MAR

Is there any clue as to what the completed word should be? I'm starting to get the form, and really like it btw, just took a bit to get the idea

I'm glad you figured out how it's going to work. Your arrangement isn't quite completely discovered. If you get the last stanza, you'll easier be able to figure it out, perhaps. But, "PAT" isn't the answer to the last one. What does the "old lady" do over and over?

well... assuming the "a" comes in the middle, the only word that makes sense is PATAMAR

That can't be right

Oh, and there is a clue. But, I can't tell you where it lies. The surprise of figuring out the word makes the realization too fun to just give away.

It would have been better I think if I didn't need so many clues!!!

Second - "a"

Third - "mar"

Fourth - "nag"

First - put those letters together and jumble....

Yay!!!!!! Thank you. Palmerc Gets the cake!!! (I am really proud of this riddle)

I know, I'm sorry I had to give all the clues. But, I don't think anyone would muster the courage to try and solve it, if I didn't. It was a tough one (I think).
