Guest
I turned his wind-up round and round. And waited to hear the tin-like sound The automaton was now marching on, But he'd only last one season long. It was time for life and love to start, Even though he had no heart. The automaton did start and stop. What was it that made him walk? NOT A HINT: Thanks deannaart!!!

Or the user? that makes him walk!

0 Guest
None of you have the answer. And I can't really give any hints, without giving it away. It is not the user, and it is not a guessing game. See ya later.
0 hugemonkey
A Phonograph record I turned his wind-up round and round. (as a phonograph that you crank) And waited to hear the tin-like sound (phonographs sound tinny) The automaton was now marching on, (it plays automatically after cranking) But he'd only last one season long. (it does not play forever) It was time for life and love to start, (most common songs are about life and love) Even though he had no heart. (there is a hole in the center of a record) The automaton did start and stop. (one song stops and another starts) What was it that made him walk? (Is this the question or is the question or is the question what is "he"? If this is the question then the answer would be a "spring." I thought about "microphone", but I agree with you that "A Phonograph record" suits the riddle much better. I was thinking along the lines of A wind-up toy, which cranked up by a spring

0 Guest
You have the answer correctly. But not what you think. The question is the question. It wasn't anything special. I told you what it was, it was an automaton. But, the answer to the riddle is, as you say, "a spring." since, it "only lasts one season long." I "wound him up" spring is "the time of new life and love." etc.A Phonograph record I turned his wind-up round and round.
