Question

Me hearties, 'tis a fair way we must travel

Tho' hazards a-plenty dog us on our course.

Take caution lest ye tread each other's lines

And pray ye not mis-read what lies before ye.

Else draw yer blades and slice and cut and suffer

Blasts and explosions! But soft, attend the flag!

The albatross, the condor, and the eagle,

Bestow us luck, though seldom be they fliers.

Some o' ye may pull, and some may scramble,

Some o' ye may push, and some may shamble,

Be ye handicapp'd, e'en sport a hook,

Ye yet shall have relief when it be rough.

This thing of pitch and plumb and wood and iron --

Tell me, mates, what be I driving at?

This has nothing to do with pirates or seafaring.

Too easy? Hmm. That's relative on this forum. It depends on your intended audience. I didn't get it off the bat and I like to think I'm pretty good at these. Of course, I really hadn't ther time to ponder the riddle too much. Hindsight, I don't think so. The style and conceit used tends to mask the obvious key-words. "Mayhaps" a few too many. Regardless . . . Well done.
