Question

Hoping Professor T does not mind my giving a try at his genre. -_-

Six-letter words, no plurals, repeated letters or proper names.

Highlighting the 4s and 5s.

Look for a clue.

One or two off-beat words perhaps, but the clue should help.

A - ABDUCT - IDoNotExist

B - BUCKLE - Prof. T

C - CODIFY - IDNE

D - DOCENT - Prof. T

E * EPONYM - Cherry Lane

F * FUGATO - Prof T.

G - GHOSTY - Woon

H - HICKEY - IDNE

I - INJURE - Woon

J - JUNKET - Woon

K - KLUDGE - IDNE

L - LEMONY - scsw

M - MONIED - Prof. T

N - NOBLER - IDNE

O - OPIATE - JB Riddler

P - PIQUED - IDNE

Q * QUARTO - Cherry Lane

R - RUSTLE - IDNE

S - STANCH - SNATCH - IDNE

T - TURGID - Hdizzy

U - UNVEIL - Prof. T

V - VOWING - IDNE

W - WAXING - IDNE

X * XYLOSE - scsw

Y * YOWZER - IDNE

Z * ZYGOTE - scsw

Spoiler for The clue. aka The pattern:

Each word has the next letter [after the initial letter] of the alphabet in it.

Except, of course, for ZYGOTE.

And EPONYM - oversight.

The clue demands that the Y word have a Z in it, leading away from YOGURT, etc, to YOWZER.

* Words that are perhaps not terribly common.

... is driving me crazy. So far I have;

ZYGOTE = 4

Cross out T cause of ABDUCT

ZYGOE

GHOSTY = 2

Seeing that Y is in there, either O or G will remain so;

ZYE (G/O)

JUNKET = 1

E is in so cross all out

DOCENT = 2

Cross out DCT and N (Junket) = OE

So I have;

ZYEO

From YOGURT (3/6)

Cross out GUT (lol),

YOR

So; Y O R E Z

Anyone?

YOWZER? I believe those are the letters, but I am not sure of the order.

EDIT: The final 'O' is giving me a ton of trouble :wacko: I wonder if I have messed up anywhere else?

IDNE - H K N P V W Y Yes S anagram.

JBR - O Yes.

List is correct except for anagrams of R and S.

Of course, anagrams are equally solutions.

Nicely done. :thumbsup:

The clue, aka the pattern, points you to the Y word.

Check the spoiler in the OP.
