Question

Over a kingdom I do rule,

The fragile, tough, beautiful, and cruel.

Without me they all would die,

Tell me who I am if you are wise.

Driven by One before its late,

Helped by Six, Seven, and Eight.

Without me there would be no one,

Who knew breath could be so much fun?

*as always, please use spoilers.

heres a hint to get us back on track.

The sunlight refers to line 5 in the riddle, I would think about what kingdom, or type of kingdom is being talked about.

Spoiler for another hint:

Have you all heard about the new Tax On food?

edit:spoiler content

Oxygen!!!

Rules over (above) kingdom.

Without it all would die.

Sun and moon and stars drive (cause to heat and cool creating movement)

who knew breath (oxygen) could be so much fun (riddle)!

someone else already guessed that, and no, its not the right answer.

did you read the hints? there is a very noticable play-on-words in one of them.

The earth is home to all creatures in the animal and plant kingdoms (or the alpha taxonomy).

Without earth (and all of the elements that make it life friendly), everything in it would not exist.

The earth is pulled by the sun, and also the other planets surrounding it.

The planet earth.

photosynthesis or chlorophyl? Without it all plant life, and susequently all animal life would die, driven by one(hydrogen via hydrogen powered star) before its late - sunlight, helped by 6,7,8 carbon, nitrogen and oxygen... who knew breath could be so fun - cycle of photosynthesis and respiration.

DING DING DING DING!!!! We have a winner!

The answer is Photosynthesis.

It rules over the plant kingdom and without it all the plants would die. Its driven by Hydrogen before night, and is responsible for all the oxygen that we breath.

Some might say that I should have figured that one out... <_<

Great riddle though! And yes it is much fun. Learning about it was the most fun part of plant physiology!!! :D

Plant Phys was one of those classes that ate my lunch in college. I took it too early and didnt have all the chem classes that I needed. but it was a fun class, and usefull in my everyday horticultural life.
