0 andromeda
Was thinking this earlier.. Some sort of pastry, like a pie or tart of come sort? It goes into the oven without a skin and comes out with a crispy pastry skin.. Well it is but I need the exact one! Keep in mind that simple peasants made these riddles probably to entertain themselves while working in field or whatever... pudding after being put in the refrigerator? I'll accept this as a modern alternative answer, nice thinking! since no refrigerators back then! Could it be caviar? No... Welcome to the Den! I'll also accept this as a modern alternative answer because back then people were drinking fresh milk and from the leftover milk they would make cheese, cause... no refrigerator! perhaps some kind of melon with black seeds. iron key=knife? I'm thinking milk... Yes! It's actually a watermelon Edited October 27, 2008 by andromeda

0 Guest
1:Bread 2:Mushroom/Toadstall?? (one foot) 3:(green -hills?,iron key -spade?) -Serbia is not coastal (i dont think) so don't believe this is related to seafood unless fresh water fish/clam (i think the Sturgeon is a sea fish?) so doubt would be in diet of Serbians back in the day. 0 Guest
#1 could be a plum or other baked pudding. But now I see the correct answer is milk to cheese. They would have stored it in pouch made of a gut of goat, etc... the gut contained "rennet" or something like that. The rennet caused the milk to solidify and thus cheese was made. 0 andromeda
an anthill? No. But keep that in mind 1:Bread 2:Mushroom/Toadstall?? (one foot) 3:(green -hills?,iron key -spade?) -Serbia is not coastal (i dont think) so don't believe this is related to seafood unless fresh water fish/clam (i think the Sturgeon is a sea fish?) so doubt would be in diet of Serbians back in the day. 1. Yes! 2. Yes! The first one! 3. No... Welcome to the Den and nice start!!! certainly is yummy... #2 is hard.... i thought it was cheese / cottage cheese ect. No... #1: Without skin I go in. With skin I come out. Pudding I already accepted that as a modern alternative answer. I can't remember who suggested that answer?! #1 could be a plum or other baked pudding. But now I see the correct answer is milk to cheese. They would have stored it in pouch made of a gut of goat, etc... the gut contained "rennet" or something like that. The rennet caused the milk to solidify and thus cheese was made. No... but if you put it that way it's one more alternative. But the answer that I needed was solved by newbie! And welcome to the Den! 0 andromeda
#1 is a sausage #2 is a mailbox #3 Welcome to the Den and use spoilers! 1. To be honest that's about the third answer that fits the riddle and what is more important it fits the period when the riddle was made, nice thinking! So I'm also accepting this answer as an alternative one 2. It works but not for the period... since these are translations of old Serbian riddles! So... modern inanimate alternative for the answer...
