I believe that it's an expression meaning that he is always late. One who is not punctual. Always behind schedule. Can't say who started it. I think it was passed on through the old wives tales.

No, that cant be it.

It was said at the eulogy of my father

by his best friend.

My dad was anal retentive about being on time.

BTW I cant ask his best friend.

thanks for the help Slick!

I presume the wording is correct, you would likely have the written eulogy.

I've not heard it so it's a guess and therefore not subject to a twocent charge

possibly ...... That he gets in a little extra, or puts in a little extra, rather than finnish early or quit ???

If you say he was always punctual perhaps it means this....

Hes always running five mins ahead of everyone else i.e translated literally when everyone else thinks its 1pm he thinks its 1.05pm, and hes been there five mins early....

I've never heard it before either, just a guess!

It means that he was a league ahead of the rest. In essence, he was a better man, an admirable man. :)

Edit: clarification

Thank you PG!!!!!

That would have made sense considering the statements before that were made.

I am grateful.

CP

btw, he was the original burning man 'burner'.

Sometimes I wish I had grown up earlier so that I could experience

the freedom he knew of the 50's and 60's.

Dont get me wrong, I know about mcCarthyism and all that

but I mean as opposed to the policestate we have now.

The innocence of the 60's and 50's
