0 Brandonb
I also like chess, and just because you two brought it up I started a new thread in the "mind boggling stuff on the web" HERE. So if you want to play just PM me. I assume that this thread is referring to non-video games? If so, Chess, Uno, and any card game that uses a regular deck. 0 Guest
I prefer the second to hardist levels of Sudoku. The very hardest are almost hit and miss...without figuring out the solution as right the first time.
0 akaslickster
I knew I forgot to limit this topic. I meant mostly for board games but some card games require a board. Those alleged random dice tosses on internet backgammon can really tick one off. Just as I am winning and well ahead in the game against an expert from say Germany, I start getting maybe 6 cruddy tosses back to back. i.e. 2&1 or 3&2. That kills the whole game, and bugs me. I want to invent special dice that can be thrown at home on a board which will be a fool proof way to play dice games where as no one can cheat, no matter what. Unless I'm too late. I never got bored of crossword puzzles because there is always a different theme or different words coming into play.lol

0 Guest
Some of the best board games to play are definitely Chess and Backgammon. I agree. You guys should check out The Book of Classic Board Games. While it doesn't have chess, it does have 15 of the best board games that are easy to learn and play, like checkers, backgammon, go, mancala, nine men's morris, and solitaire. All of them can be played with only two sets of colored beads, black and white, and maybe some dice. Edited June 30, 2008 by Frost

0 Guest
My new favorite is BLOCKUS...because I totally rock it with my superior spatial-temporal reasoning skills! Classic favorites are: any version of Trivial Pursuit, You Don't Know Jack, Don't forget the Lyrics, Name that Tune, Scattergories, Scene It, Settlers of Catan, Pictionary and Balderdash. I am the friggin' Queen of worthless trivia and anything music or movie related.
0 Guest
I'm not a huge fan of "bored" games, but I would love to be good at chess. I know how to play, but I don't have a food understanding of how to incorporate strategy into prediction fo future moves. It's almost like Kung Fu, in that the next move is based on a pre-determined sequence of moves designed to counteract another pre-determined sequence of moves, and the skill therefore coming from knowing more sequences and being able to apply that knowledge to guage the probability of the opponents next move, while allowing that their next move may change in reaction to ones own move. That is too involved for me, and I don't feel that any board game is worth that much energy.

Another good one is Risk, that takes a lot of strategy(and luck). Edited July 2, 2008 by Frost
