Just to clarify,

each answer is a word with two distinct meanings (hence the title), both of which are given or strongly hinted at in the clue.

These answers are a bit of a mixed bag. Number 10 is good though, so point to mgwilliams. Not the same as my answer though so all 10 are still open!

#2 By "Aim" I meant to aim/level a criticism, and to aim with your eye (gaze)

#3 By "Stand" I meant kick stand (bike accessory) and standing start (racing)

#4 By "Essence" I meant essence as in perfume (scent) and essence as in vanilla essence (extract)

#5 By "Sharp" I meant a sharp person (perceptive) and as in a warning: NO SHARP OBJECTS!

#6 By "Verify" I meant a computer scan (check for errors), and the verifying of a statement in court (truth)

#7 "Lucky Jim" is a novel, "Earthworm Jim" is a computer game.

I accept that my other ones were a bit of a grey area (e.g. money vs quality yield)

Not looking for bonus points just a bit confused :(

There's sometimes a blurry line between a different meaning, or just a different interpretation of the same meaning. I think 3 and 5 are the only ones with really clear distinctions there, but don't fit the clues so well. In the end I have to just judge it the best I can, sorry if it seems harsh!

OK, here's where we stand, coloured red if we've had the "right" answer:

1) fire bag - "catch" (RoopthePoop) / "sack" (amanda)

2) level gaze

3) kick start

4) scent of extraction

5) perceptive object

6) find error in truth - "correct" (grey cells)

7) lucky worm

8) not the first time - "second" (Pzlmenot) sorry amanda, Pzlmenot beat you to it

9) you must pay for quality

10) make it through the rain - "storm" (mgwilliams) / "weather" (Pzlmenot)

Subject/subjective?

Subjective being a perception?

Ah that's better now you've edited it. Had me confused for a bit there. I see where you're coming from, but I'll have to say no to those...
