Sam and 3 of his friends are walking around town. They all have ATM cards, but none of them have cash. Sam sees a pair of shoes he wants that cost $220, but his ATM only allows him to withdrawal $100 a day. One of his friends can only withdrawal $50 a day and each of the other friends can only withdrawal $40 a day. Sam’s friends are willing lend him the money. What is the fewest number of ATM withdraws the group can do in order to get Sam the shoes that day?

zero ATM withdrawals, I know its not common now days but we do still have banks, Sam goes inside his and gets the $220

hm but there are atm's all over the place...just because they found a machine doesn't mean it was in front of a bank or that the bank would have been open. It was clever but not very well-thought-out.

The only reason I am bothering to write this is in hopes of this thread being locked. This wasn't a brain teaser, it was a pathetic attempt at a trick question, and a huge success as a waste of time and space in this forum.

4 Sam takes out the 100.00 and the one friend that can take out the 50.00 and the other two take out the 40.00 each that totals to 230.00 leaving 10.00 left over. that was to easy

hmm sorry ya'll didn't appreciate this, but you know there are worse trick questions on here (like "smoking twins" for example, that one you don't even have to think about) I guess the worst part is that I get your hopes up with all numbers and you actually try to think about it for a sec. Thats how I put the tease in brain teaser. oh ya any way Brandonb you got a lot of work to do before this site is as elite as you think it is, good luck to yuh on that one.

I am ok with it - there are simple/easy ones, and hard ones too - I am not looking to be a mensa member, keep going at it, if people don't like it they can vote it low or overlook it!
