0 Guest
Alphaprime, you have partially ruined this question by doing two things: 1) You are insisting to take this question about Mexican Independence when the question is about "THE HOLIDAY OF CINCO DE MAYO". By doing this, you have missed the point of the riddle, and this is a riddle, not a factual recall question. 2) You are looking stuff up on the internet, when I specifically said that's not fair. Luckily, you have posted things irrelevant to the riddle, but you've probably given a lot of people too many hints on what's going on. Ok, that being said, the answer to this riddle (again, this is a RIDDLE, not a fact recall) is below. Cinco de Mayo is a holiday which celebrates a battle of Mexico's independence from FRANCE, not Spain. Cinco de Mayo has nothing to do with Mexico's initial independence from Spain, which was years earlier and in August (and celebrated as a national holiday in September). Cinco de Mayo is from years later when France tried to recolonize Mexico with Emperor Maximillian. Therefore, the question posed in the OP was impossible, as there is no year that on "May 5th" the Mexican people got their independence from Spain. I think you are making a mistake regarding this being a riddle because you pose a question and state is a question therefore not a riddle, see bold line and about Spain which would lead people into checking there facts. See bold underlined - answer after first post right or wrong?????? Rhapsodize Can you explain pls.. How has this been spoiled? Why have you challenged and commented as ruined? Why did you not construct it differently to achieve what now appears to be different outcome? Edited May 6, 2008 by Lost in space

Why did you not construct it differently to achieve what now appears to be different outcome? I disagree. This riddle is on the same EXACT level as, "How many of each animal did Moses have on the Ark?" The answer to that one is obviously that Noah had the Ark, not Moses. This riddle is presented in the same manner. Now, all that being said, I had no idea what the answer was.
0 Guest
I disagree. This riddle is on the same EXACT level as, "How many of each animal did Moses have on the Ark?" The answer to that one is obviously that Noah had the Ark, not Moses. This riddle is presented in the same manner. Still not a riddle though it has a catch. A topic set like that will have people checking facts. Also still not replied as stated in the OP that the first reply will recieve the answer right or wrong! 0 bonanova
... and the Hall Monitor rises again, reluctantly, to the podium: Now children, you know that on the first day of class you were all instructed to read the handout. It was come to my attention that some of you apparently didn't ... So let me read for you a portion of the handout that might be relevant at this point ... Are we all paying attention now? Good! 5. Nit-picking about wording of others' OPs. When solving a riddle, treat the OP as if it has a solution, and then try to find it. The idea is to find a solution that fits the question without violating any of the conditions. If you would have worded it differently, think it's trivial or it just isn't your cup of tea, let it go and try a different riddle. You may now return to class.... 0 Guest
im guessing this is a riddle and not factual questions, therefore i would have to say that independence from spain was not on may the 5ht, and therefore this holiday has to do with independence of something else. wat, i have no idea!
