Approach this in the same manner as you would an intercepted message that you are to decipher by discovering some pattern. Obviously, as it is posted here, the letters represent something numerically. While it may seem gray and directionless on the surface, there is no ambiguity in the solution. When the pattern is discovered, it is exceedingly apparent.
