Question

 Math Riddles:

1. A farmer has 10 seeds. He needs to plant five rows of four seeds each. How could he do it with only 10 seeds?

2. You have a cylindrical barrel of water. The water is about half of the barrel. How would you know if the water is greater than or less than half if you do not have any measuring materials?

3. You want to deliver a 4 feet 5 inch fishing rod to a friend using a certain cargo ship; however, it only allows you to deliver items with a maximum of 4 feet. How do you deliver your rod?

 Thinking Riddles:

1. There is a bottle. A paper clip is suspended in it by a string connected to the cork covering the bottle. How do you make the paper clip drop to the bottom of the barrel without holding the bottle, the cork, the string or the paper clip?

2. Bob and Joe are camping around midnight. Bob says to Joe that exactly one week later, it wouldn't be sunny. Surprisingly, he was right. How did he know?

3. Before a king dies, he makes a challenge to his two sons to decide which one inherits the treasure. He declares an odd race to the castle: Whose horse is the last to get to the castle will get the treasure. So the two sons started the race and wandered off, not wanting to go to the castle. They met a wise man and told them about their situation. The wise man told them to do something, and soon they were racing to be the first to get to the castle. What did the wise man say?

:P Logic (Lies and Truths) Riddle:

There are two doors leading to a paradise and to a place of torture. Beside them are two guards. One tells lies, and the other tells truths. You do not know which door is which nor do you know which guard is which. You can ask one question to only one of the two to know which door leads to paradise. What do you ask to a guard?

  1. Form a regular star and plant a seed at every angle.
  2. Tilt the cylinder until water is just about to flow out. If the other edge of water is below the bottom edge then you've less than half, if it is up to the edge then you've exactly half, otherwise you've more.
  3. Store it obliquely.

Edit: corrected a typo.

  1. Could you please explain the problem with a picture?
  2. Exactly one week later, it will be midnight.
  3. Exchange the horses.

Ask: "Which door would other guard indicate as door to paradise?" The door thus being indicated actually leads to torture. So, take the other door.

You do not know which door is which nor do you know which guard is which. You can ask one question to only one of the two to know which door leads to paradise. What do you ask to a guard?

Math Riddles:

1. Place 5 seeds in a regular 5-point star, place the other 5 seeds at the intersections of imaginary lines connecting each of the original 5 points.

2. Tilt the barrel until the water reaches the edge (about to spill). If the water at the bottom is above the bottom edge, you have more than half, below the bottom edge is less than half, exactly at the bottom edge is exactly half.

3. I assume you meant "a maximum DIMENSION of 4 feet IN THREE DIMENSIONS". The rod will fit if laid along a diagonal of the box.

Thinking Riddles:

1. Set the cork on fire.

2. You said "around midnight". A week later it will be "around midnight".

3. Get on each others' horses.

Logic (Lies and Truths) Riddle:

Ask either guard "Which door will the OTHER GUARD say is the door to Paradise?". Then take the opposite door. truth-telling guard will tell you the wrong door because that is what the liar would say. The lying guard will tell you the wrong door because it is the opposite of what the truth-teller would say. Either way, the answer received will be "wrong".

For the bottle riddle:

Following a similar train of thought to what others have said, why not just take a hammer and smash the bottle? Or, even better since all four elements would remain in tact, just knock the bottle over, then the paperclip will be sitting against the side of the bottle which will have become the bottom (the wording of the riddle was "hold" the items, just knocking them over doesn't "hold" anything).

1. A farmer has 10 seeds. He needs to plant five rows of four seeds each. How could he do it with only 10 seeds?

A star formation

2. You have a cylindrical barrel of water. The water is about half of the barrel. How would you know if the water is greater than or less than half if you do not have any measuring materials?

I'd let the water sit in the sun for a while (to soak up any watermakrs on the side where the water isnt touching) then I'd cover the barrel tightly. Then i'd pivot the barrel upside down perfectly along a center point of gravity so only one side of the barrel got wet while the barrel turned upside down. Then I would turn it right side up, the way i turned it that time. There should be a small part of the barrel that is dry if it is less than half. With that you can determine that its nto less than half, meaning that its either exactly half full or more than half.

3. You want to deliver a 4 feet 5 inch fishing rod to a friend using a certain cargo ship; however, it only allows you to deliver items with a maximum of 4 feet. How do you deliver your rod?

Rods usually come apart. also it doesnt comment on depth or width

 Thinking Riddles:

1. There is a bottle. A paper clip is suspended in it by a string connected to the cork covering the bottle. How do you make the paper clip drop to the bottom of the barrel without holding the bottle, the cork, the string or the paper clip?

First of all, what barrel? Second of all if you meant bottle, you can do many things to a bottel without 'holding' it. like breaking it, putting things in it, uncorking it, etc. using other materials you can pull things inside the bottle via oxygen expulsion via candles and such.

2. Bob and Joe are camping around midnight. Bob says to Joe that exactly one week later, it wouldn't be sunny. Surprisingly, he was right. How did he know?

Midnight + a week = midnight = always darkness

What did the wise man say?

steal your brothers horse and ride it to the castle

ask one guard what the other will say, its an if statement in an if statement that produces results that define their status of liar/not liar

Many of you got confused in Thinking Riddle # 1, including me :P . I missed some important details. So let me rewrite it:

There is a bottle. A paper clip is suspended in it by a string connected to the cork covering the bottle. How do you make the paper clip drop to the bottom of the bottle* without touching* or damaging* or touching with another object* or moving* the bottle, the cork, the string or the paper clip?

Conclusion: You couldn't burn or set the cork on fire because that would damage it. What would a magnet do to the paper clip aside from pulling it to one side of the bottle? You couldn't smash the bottle because that would destroy it. You couldn't knock over the bottle because it would just make the paper clip fall to the side and not to the bottom. You couldn;t push the cork in because you would touch the cork.

One of you already got it right! But I wouldn't tell who yet.

As for the other questions...You almost got everything right...KlueMaster, novah, Smith one from pritamde

For the barrel, the answer is you tilt it. You don't have a lid, so you couldn't do what novah said. For the others, you all got it right  .
