Question

"You're too good, Smith!" says Jones. "There hasn't been an unsolved crime in weeks!" he joked (obviously to impress the general who was attending his party). But it was true. Not an unsolved crime in 3 months and 17 days.

"Oh, really," says General Whatshisname. "Well, I've got a challenge. It seems that Jonesy here has put together a little riddle challenge. He calls it the Ultimate Riddle. I call it the Hardest Riddle Ever Event. But it's already been answered before you came down here."

"A pity I missed it," you say. "that Chinese teapot theft really kept me for a while. Got it in the end, though. Turns out it was for an insurance claim!"

"Anyway, says the General."I have to announce the person who won. But that too, will be in riddle form. Only a few people took the time to think about it, and this will be interesting. They are:

John Celur

Florence Oak

Amanda Reeful

Dr. William Jale

Selene Zenos.

Here's the speech I will give:

"OK now everyone!"The winner of, 'The Hardest Riddle Ever' Event!"

"OK," you say. "Not bad. I do hope they can figure it out, or it will be very awkward"

The General is surprised. "You know??!" he asks incredulously.

"Yes."

Who was it?

Check out another Detective Smith next week!

Ok, I think I have it figured out but not sure if my logic is right. Only going off the 1 clue I picked up on (i think lol)

the doctor?

The list was giving and then the First thing said was OK, this could be in reference to the OK corral, and if that's the case, then the clue is pointing to the doctor since the fight involved "Doc" Holliday.

That was what I based the answer on.

Definitely correct me if I'm wrong or point out if I missed any other clue(s).

That one line: "OK now everyone!"The winner of, 'The Hardest Riddle Ever' Event" which the General says is literally what he will say. That is the riddle that you must solve.

"The Hardest Riddle Ever Event", when consolidated by first letter, gives the word "three". The third person was Amanda Reeful. However, that logic doesn't seem conclusive enough, even if the 'word' "ree" is in her name. But it's the best I can come up with.

by taking the first letters of the general's words, you get "ONE TWO THREE" However,I don't know the exact significance of that...

Well, don't I feel stupid. Completely missed the one and the two...But you're right; I'm not sure of the significance, either.

The question is, what is the last line?

But you guys (Magician, basically) are on the right track. All you need to do is figure out what the three lines have to do with finding the right person.

MissKitten: 1. That was using the process of elimination from what I said later. and no, that doesn't really work, either.

One thing you should know about these Detective Smith Riddles: Everything is given in the original topic. It's not like the Brian Dennis where you ask questions.
