Guest
Clever. I initially thought of this 5 > 9, but there's not really a number there. 5 > x > 9 would be more appropriate I guess.
Guest
Its a point "." between the no. that is 5.
Guest
You could also put a square root sign between them
unreality
i saw a similar problem before, except the numbers were adjacent and they were 2 and 3 (2.3)
Guest
Wow! I never thought it to be so simple! I was thinking of all sorts of logarithms. BTW, the sqrt symbol between doesn't work.
Guest
You could also put a square root sign between them No, this would not actually work. It would translate to five times the square root of nine. Since the square root of nine is three, the value would then be fifteen, which is not less than nine. Guest
Pretty good...but i could of sworn it said mathmatical operator when I read it the first time, and not mathmatical symbol....

Guest
The "point between the 5 and 9" is correct. The square root doesn't work.

Guest
i have a question tho, hw many people see the puzzle, solve it or look at the awncer then go away? how many of them, if intrigued, bother to go to a seccond page?

Guest
you could put the plus or minus sign 5+9 > 5 5-9 <
Guest
you could put the plus or minus sign 5+9 > 5 5-9 < 9 Pretty sure ur only supposed to use one symbol, so the decimal point is the answer.
Guest
bah trickster... i thought it was just X like the variable but that wouldn't mean anything

Guest
i have a question tho, hw many people see the puzzle, solve it or look at the awncer then go away? how many of them, if intrigued, bother to go to a seccond page? I confess- I usually just read the puzzle, either figure it out or look at the answer, and then I do read the comments, but this is the first time I've made a comment. Good question! I wouldn't have thought of the decimal

Guest
Well, I tried the square-root operator, and it yielded an answer that was too big. So I figured, how about the third-root (Cube-root)? Still too big. So the fourth-root works, though. So putting the operator between the numbers would imply a multiplication operation, a two-in-one deal. The fourth-root of nine is approx. 1.372. Multiply that by five to get approx. 8.660, which is greater than five, and less than nine.
Guest
You could put a 4th root sign. Which would yield the answer 8.
Guest
Ha, we just finished this stuff in math, 5<x>9 Wouldnt that be a number (x) that is bigger then 5 and less then 9?
Guest
i have a question tho, hw many people see the puzzle, solve it or look at the awncer then go away? how many of them, if intrigued, bother to go to a second page? I think reading the answers you all give is some of the best parts of this place. Y'all make me laugh when you argue.
