Guest
Can the sentence you do not exist ever be true? BY saying you, you acknowledge the other beings existence, but what if the speaker does not exist, or if the speaker is delusional?
0 Izzy
...That's not a paradox.. That's falsely calling something "you". Imagine your average dude on a Comedy Central LSD trip. "No, huge dragon flying in the middle of the road whilst I try to drive, YOU DON'T EXIST." ..The dragon probably doesn't exist. The dude's probably talking to a motorcycle. Not really a paradox.. 0 Guest
Sounds like the speaker needs a healthy dose of Descartes and some inpatient psychiatric care. Or just don't take questions too seriously if they were generated while in altered states of consciousness.
0 Guest
ah the old matrix puzzle. what if the world around us is an illusion and we are just some experiment? well then I definitely overpaid for my pizza.
0 Guest
It's just a matter of semantics (The meaning of "exist" - see Matrix) or truth condition (saying the statement to a rock is not a paradox, just a false statement) or felicity (saying the statement to thin air, or perhaps a mirror, is just nonsensical)
0 Guest
It'd be better to say I don't exist.
