*shrug* I just can't. I don't know why, it's probably phycological, I just can't. The truth behind this stuff can only point to one thing. There can only be one right way that explains perfectly how the world and reality really are. Being me, I'm convinced I'm right. Being him, I'm sure he's convinced he's right. Because there is only one right (Really. Either something's there or it isn't. It happens or it doesn't.), I'll remain convinced that I'm right and he's wrong. Science supports me. I'll believe science over extraordinary claims that can't be proved to be trueany day. Things can be interesting without necessarily being true. I find Greek Mythology extraordinarily intriguing. They are stories. They are myths. They are make-believe. This isn't exactly the same thing as 'being tiny pieces of God', but in a way that in itself is a story. A story Langan made. That made me smile. It's true though. The only reason I moved to this thread is because I wanted to discuss specifically his views on God and Intelligent Design. I feared talking about it there would get the thread locked, as Martini tends to tell people to put things of this sort in the religious threads. I didn't want stray off-topic accidentally. I didn't ignore it. I opened it, skimmed, and found I was uninterested. I'll bookmark it, read it all through by Sunday, and let you know my insight.

Heh, I can see how most people would say that you don't have to use all you have to do something constructive, but remember, this is the dude that wanted to making breeding a right, so the world's full of only the smartest. But yeah, he can stay there and rot for all I care at this point. I don't agree with it and think it's an insanely selfish/foolish thing for him to do, but his choice. I dislike him immensely 'cos he's so arrogant. What I'm saying is, if this guy's the 'smartest man in the world' he should be able to realize what makes sense and what doesn't. At this point I'm not talking about blind faith anymore. That's all a matter of opinion whether it makes sense to you or not, arguing about it gets you no where. Since I haven't read his works any further than Intelligent Design, that's all I can fairly debate about. There are so many disproofs for it out there (Google them. They're out there. Not going to post 50 links), and no proofs that have stood up under scientific testing, so because 2+2=4, we can safely say that there is no, and was no, intelligent design. He clearly refuses to accept that. Which is annoying.

Not quite. Sometime soon GC will post a caption, and you have to draw a picture for that caption. Then the game will end, everyone talks about how awesome it was (you guys better ), and we begin again. This time you'll go first, and think of a caption. Easy enough?

So... Chris Langan is a total twat. He would be much more use to the world providing empirical evidence for the nonexistence of god rather than publishing bull that he probably even believes to be false. I didn't read his thesis any further than the ID bit, because none of it's proved right, and none of it ever will be. Personally, I hate this guy. This may come off as a little... er.. wrong-sounding, but I don't see how someone that smart* could put his life at the hands of blind faith and believe in god. What does everyone else think of him and his work on theism? *By smart, I mean based solely on his IQ. As I said, I don't think any true "smart" person, making scientific claims, would believe in god and ignore the evidence completely. This guy isn't smart. He's ignorant and remarkably arrogant.

*maniacal laughter* You should always be worried when I have an idea. With an exception of this time, because it's a good idea that doesn't involve anyone getting hurt. Basically I pm'd Frost and told him to tell Unreality to draw something, and then post it for him. Hopefully it'll work..

I've just asked my mom. I began talking at 8 months. My first word was Kaba (chocolate milk..) and my first sentence was "Snee all!" (Snow gone/empty). She couldn't remember when I started speaking in complete, proper sentences, but apparently whenever I was thinking, I'd look straight ahead, touch my pacifier, take it out, say what I had to say whilst making eye-contact, put it back in, and wait for a response. I kind of want to discuss this guy in the Atheism Thread. Anyone up for it?

Heh, that doesn't work with me either. I let things thrown at me hit me, and then tell people off for throwing them. One time I got hit in the head with a metal box, thinking it was a pillow, and my head started bleeding like hell. I freaked out, got my mom, and she thought I was joking.

I've downloaded it, begun reading it, but will not read it any further. Basically 'cos it's all bollocks, especially the bit about Intelligent Design. ID (for those unfamiliar with it) asserts that most biological systems are far too complex to have arisen naturally. None of the claims of ID have ever been published in respectable scientific journals, or stood up under any sort of scientific testing. One of the bigger arguments against ID, as stated by Richard Dawkins, the eyes of vertebrates are wired backwards. Other animals have their eyes wired more rationally. Eyes are not designed. They developed several times, different times, as evolution took place. There's loads of other arguments, that being the simplest to understand from what I've heard. If you want more/are not convinced, PM me and we can debate it. Dinner's just arrived... Honestly, I think this guy just wrote this attempting to use the most confusing vocabulary there is (and failed - I understood most of it, and my vocab sucks), hoped no 'real' scientist would look into it, and got away with it. I've changed my mind. I'll read into it. And disproof every last year. Chinese food now! I'm off.

Smoking is population control. The only one of his ideas I can see myself agreeing with is making higher the standard for the average person's intelligence. ..And that's only because I thought of it ages ago as part of my plan to take over the world. Ahem. >_>

Heh. I do this strange thing where I have conversations with people in my mind. Usually when I'm bored, hence day dreaming being one of my interests. So, during most of my classes I just start grinning or having giggle fits randomly. I have much more control over these than last year. I got kicked out of Social Studies for about 30 seconds at least every other day. The worst was right because we were going to start the DRP (some standardized test), and one of my friends and I just started looking at each other and giggling. It was dead silent until then. The class was just like "0.o", and the teacher was like "...Jesus [my last name], again? You and Hailee go get some water, NOW." ..When we finally got back into the classroom, we did so with our hoods. This got the whole class laughing and the teacher insanely pissed off. (We're her favorites though, so it's cool.) The test was insanely delayed. And oh man, I'm rambling. Yeah. We're switching roles. I guess the order will remain the same, but we'll start with a picture rather than a caption. That way if any new people want to join, they can just add themselves to the bottom of the list.

Oh man, you know what I've just realized? I'm pretty sure someone of such an IQ is at least mildly interested in brain teasers/puzzles. So sir, Mr. Langan, if by chance you've read what I posted above, I want you to know in no way am I apologizing. Please sir, just do something that will help mankind? You've got the potential, no doubt. You're also a middleaged, overweight, American. That doesn't say much for your mortality. Just.. dude. Please? ..For the children of America*? ;D? *Geez, did I actually just say that? Ah well. But seriously, do something!

Having an incredibly high IQ just means he has more potential than most people. I refuse completely to refer to this man was the world's smartest. He's wasting his life. I don't care if school didn't challenge him. It doesn't challenge me. It's called suck it up, sleep through it, get a degree, and get an awesome job that matters.. Any 'genius' should see that. ..This dude is such a waste. Someone with this much potential rarely comes around, and... he does.. nothing. He thinks. Well done.
