so far, all the statements are correct if you only use the tens and ones digits. perhaps that has something to do with it.

100 and 101 are binary. 100 = 4 & 101 = 5, so 99 > 4 (100), 99 > 5 (101), 5 (101) > 4 (100)

OK so this probably wont work because it modifies the original question but simply put the only way

99>100 and 99>101 is if 100 and 101 were negative numbers.

i.e. 99>-100 and 99>-101

granted that still doesn't solve the whole 100<101 thing. but it's a viable thought in the beginning.

You are mostly getting it.

On a microwave, if you type in 99, it equals 1 minute and 39 seconds. If you type in 100, it registers as 1 minute, and if you type in 101, it registers as 1 minute and one second.
