Question

A man travels to his work by train. Every morning his wife drives him over to the train station, and in the evening she picks him up at 6 P.M. and takes him home. One day he got off work earlier, and so he arrived at the train station at 5 P.M. (instead of the usual time 6 P.M). While he was walking home, he met his wife en route to the station and got into the car. They drove home arriving 10 minutes earlier than usual.

Now, the question is how long did the man have to walk he was picked up by his wife?

55 minutes. They arrived 10 minutes early, so she picked him up 5 minutes from the station (thus eliminating 5 minutes from her trip there and 5 minutes from their trip back to that point) and therefore she picked him up at 5:55, 55 minutes after he started walking
