  Reveal hidden contents

Suppose the numbers are written in base x notation.

First of all, x>9 since there's a 19 in the puzzle.

Converted to base 10 (which we all love and cherish),

the puzzle can be filled out (top-to-bottom and

left-to-right with: 9x+13, 4x+7, 5x+6, x+9, 3x-2,

2x+8, 7, x+2, 2x-4, 12, 12-x, x-5, 7, 2x-11, and

23-2x.

Each number in the pyramid is the sum of the two numbers immediately below it. Fill in the pyramid with the missing numbers.

Start by determining that the second number in the second row from the bottom is 12 (19 - 7) and the rest follows pretty obviously. The result is:

bottom row reads: 2 5 7 9 3

next up: 7 12 16 12

next: 19 28 28

next: 47 56

top number: 103

you know steeleman23 already guessed that and that what I got too, but rohit said it was wrong.

Here's a more concrete solution based on my

previous post

If the numbers are in base 11 (the only base other

than 10 which has all positive numbers in the

pyramid), the pyramid is:

A2

47, 56

19, 29, 28

7, 12, 17, 11

1, 6, 7, 10, 1

how is 29+28=56?

Why are people thinking in multiple bases? It was merely a logic problem. Beefing it up by thinking in base 11 is just making a mountain out of a molehill. Really now.
