Question

Even though this puzzle rhymes, I still think it belongs on the logic and math puzzle forum because it takes logic to solve. sorry if I put it on the wrong forum.

A man without eyes saw pears on a tree,

he did not take pears, he did not leave pears,

now how can that be?

I grew up thinking there was only one answer, but just today I learned a much funnier one!

This is a clasic and I'm suprised it didn't come up when I searched

Was it his dream!?!? And he woke up before he could take it.

i read another one concerning apples a few days ago.........is this like that...???

he had one eye, so took one pear as there was only one on the tree....???

Not exactlly, but you got the basic concept. I seriously searched and nothing came up!

There were two pears on the tree. The man took one. He therefore did not take 'pears'; he only took one pear. Also, there are no 'pears' left on the tree; there is only one pear left.

Similarly, he didn't have 'eyes'; he had one eye. Consequently, he could still see the pears.

This solution was already stated a couple posts ago in fewer words, sort of. I've just modified it slightly.

This was somewhere else on the site before, but I don't remember what the title was. It was worded differently.
