Question

There was once a young boy

Who lost his favorite toy.

He had a four letter nickname

That I'd like to know.

I'd also like you to reveal

How did this young boy feel?

Initials are good for last name.

Now find the answer below.

n, t, h, e, s, d

start

tires

tests

tasted

tithes

tents

If you seek more assistance

You'll have to seize it this instance

With a writ of assistance

But I won't let you seize this

Because I can take the which,

Which amendment?

--

I hope this is as hard to solve as it was difficult to create! I also hope I didn't screw it up somehow, and that it is solvable, lol

By the way, the name is pretty rare, but the feeling is not

Randy, I'm feeling randy!

Randy!

flings "banana peels" against the wall of the enclosure.

lol...

By the way I forgot to say:

This is less a riddle and more a puzzle. You'll need a paper and pencil (or notepad and keyboard) to solve it

And remember... this is more a puzzle than riddle (but I figure it would fit here better than in the forum for math puzzles)

Look at the letters one at a time

I could be wrong, but I think you're wrong. I think most of us New Word Riddles folk prefer not to use that side of our brain. But, we'll see what happens.

Seth was tense?

I kinda wish it was. The solution is less elegant than that...

eight letters, four for first name, one for last name initial, three for emotion (which I realize limits it to sad and mad, so I'll go ahead and say, yep, the little boy is sad)

However, there is a specific way to get to the solution... so I'm hoping it will be fun

Same question from me about the "A" in mad or sad lol... especially if we're not supposed to look at the letters not pointed out :(. My brain may be spent for the day. There's a math/logic puzzle that's killing me.

Yeah, I'm confused all over in this way, as well.

Uh, there is no M for mad. There is no mad. I just meant, the only three letter emotions I can think of off the top of my head are mad and sad. I gave away that the emotion is going to be three letters... so I went ahead and said, it's sad.

Last hint for now: you gotta play around more than think

Plus, I was under the impression that the name and the emotion were one and the same word. I'm glad to know I was wrong.

Man this thing is melting my brain. I really think it's on the wrong forum. I'm trying to follow along, but it's feeling a little like the blind leading the blind. Certainly not to say any thing bad about the riddle itself!!!! Fine riddle. My brain is just misplaced in this one I guess. Good luck Lotus and Glycerine.

hmm
seems to fit some of the given words, as well as making sad, so i will try: Nath sad

Nope... you can't guess it, you gotta use the stuff that comes after the rhymes

The given words don't mean anything. They were selected for their letters

I'm starting to feel bad about putting this puzzle in a riddles section... =/

I think that your "riddle" and my "riddle" have a lot in common. They are probably better classified as "ciphers" but I think that this category is the closest. I have seen other ciphers posted here before.

Woah! I just posted a cross topic hint.

I dabble in the math/logic forum and here, so I'm ok with it but I can definitely see the frustration from people thinking they were trying to solve a riddle! (Although I think you can tell right away it's not a "normal" riddle.

That said, I'm stuck...

N,T,H,E,S,D

start, STT, 522, 9, I

tires, TES, 245, 11, K

tests, TESTS, 24525, 18, R

tasted, TSTED, 25246, 19, S

tithes, TTHES, 22345, 15, O

tensts, TENTS, 24125, 14, N

Only names that popped out of that were Sorin or Korin, Sori or Kori...

But since of those letters I thought I figured out none of them are A or D, I'm highly doubting my method.

Interesting... but too complicated. lol.

Look at the given letters individually!

I guess I don't know what you mean... the first six letters or the ones (of those 6) that are present in the words... Obviously don't have to answer if it will ruin it, but I just don't know where to go.

What confuses me is how one of the answers can be SAD when only two of those letters are in the "Given letters." So, what do the "given letters" have to do with the given words?

if the felling is sad, therefore the s and d are taken. that leaves the N,T,H,E. possibly-Neth?
