Question

ActOp4.gif

ok, see the brown block in the top middle, and the 'yellow' block in the center of the shadowy side? yeah, they're the same color. i know!! you just thing i'm giving u a bunch of B.S. right? cut a hole in a piece of paper, and position the hole so you can only see the 'yellow' block, and you will see that they are the same color!!!!

ok, this is not exactly an optical illusion, but it is wierd. try to add these numbers with the correct outcome. i admit, i added them wrong the first time. look at the spoiler to see the actual outcome. i almost gaurentee you, that you will be thinking: ooh, i'm so clever, i got it right! yay me!. and you will be WRONG!!!!

add these:

1000

20

30

1000

1030

1000

20

+

_________

?__?__?__?

you probably added to 5000, right?

well the actual answer is: 4100.

add again, but more carefully.

ok, here's another one:

how is this possible??? the photo has not been altered in any way. and it is 100% wood and nails, no paper that looks like wood.

i get the number one! the number such as if you add

1000

+20

------

3000 right? WRONG

its supposed to be that the 20 moves back to the tens colum get it?

i'm not understanding what your trying to say here...however i did get the numbers on the first try all you do is add the thousands column first then add the tens column and you get 4100

The second one, I honestly can't think of anyone I know who got it right on the first shot without taking time to think about it. It works really well if you do it verbally.

The last one is fantastic, there's actually another way to do it as well. I attached my awesome drawing, this is how I thought he did it. Don't know if it makes sense to anyone else though.

That number one made me think of this.

how many f's?

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RESULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC STUDY COMBINED WITH THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS.

I bet some of you will be yelling something like, 'hey! there's only three!' You forgot the f's in 'of'. :duh:

Very exceptional post.------Regarding the colored cube, this phenomenon was dealt with extensively in theory by Edwin Land, the inventor of the Poloroid Camera process. He referred to it as the Retinex Theory. A good article and other examples is at

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retinex#Retinex_Theory

More than anyone ever cared to know can be found by Googling either "Retinex Theory" and/or Edwin H. Land.

I added the numbers in the order they were typed >.>

it's merely: four 1,000s, 4,000. 30 + 30 = 60, + 20 + 20 = 100. do it in your head.

well, that's because i just suck at math. i got a 15% on my last math test. i got 2 problems right. :(

but if u do it really quick, then it will b wrong because the 100s are supposed to look like 1000s. and it's gunna b wrong if u add in the exact order they are typed.

I don't know why that didn't trick my brain at all. I am good at maths so I can easily do sums.

I think the problem tricks people into thinking it's 4000 + 1000. The 30 + 30 + 20 + 20 adds up to 100, but if you have 4000 first (by adding the 1000s first), you just innately go ahead and add a 1 to the thousand column since you don't pay attention to the zeros after the 1.

I'ts lkie if I tpye lkie tihs. The frsit and lsat lteters are waht you see, not waht's in bteeewn.
