0 Guest
I assume that since there are 6 different variables (letters: CATDOG) listed in 1 and only 5 numbers which can represent those variables (0,2,4,5,9) that two different variables can have the same number. Same thing with 2. Is this correct of am I way off?

0 Guest
can you explain of one from the digit represented by the same letter below the line.does it mean that C and D have differenc of 1. In this case how can CAT + CAT = DOG!! And if the numbers can be repeated is it necessary to use all the numbers? could a solution be as simple as 452 + 452 = 904 ...all are from the sample numbers Edited February 6, 2009 by DeepS

0 Guest
There seems to be many different answers to these ones. For number 2 I got, DOGS=5631 RATS=4271 CATS=1360
0 Guest
I guess I should have asked more questions about this puzzle because I was doing it the impossible way. I had assumed that the solution for #1 was applied to #2 such that what ever DOG was for #1 was also DOG for #2 (negating the S, of course, but S is easily 1). It was driving me crazy because there was no solution in that case.
